It's called The New York Times

The New York Times has won 101 Pulitzer Prizes for excellence in journalism, far more than any other newspaper. http://www.pulitzer.org/bycat http://www.cnrnews.com/html/publications/n...ewyorktimes.htm The Times has long been considered the nation’s national newspaper and our national archivist.

A newspaper isn’t good or poor because someone does or doesn’t agree with it. Unfortunately, some people on the radical right in the United States regularly condemn The New York Times because it prints news (also known as facts) that does not support their political prejudices and agenda. On this site, someone has taken to calling it names.

Real news is not political. It should be factual. Like all other newspapers, the Times makes mistakes and is occasionally guilty of printing news that is not factual, but its verification standards are at the top of the field and the quality and talent of its reporters is unmatched. That is what all those Pulitzer Prizes mean.

The Wall Street Journal has won Pulitzer Prizes, too. The prizes are given based on journalistic quality. When a newspaper has won as many Pulitzer Prizes as The New York Times or the Wall Street Journal, it merits respect, not sneering contempt.

It’s called The New York Times. It remains the finest newspaper in the world.

OK, now for the facts without the spin. The NY Times was once a great newspaper but has drifted far left over the last decade or so. It has gotten so bad at the Times that they will bury or even refuse to print articles that are critical of the left . If they are printed, they are spun to make the most negative information sound wonderful or at least Bush's fault.

The NY Times news articles have also become highly editorialized. Instead of just the facts, it's now the facts, spun.

Krugman epitomizes the worst of the Times editorial writers, he's so rediculously far left he has no credibility with anyone but the Kool-Aid crowd.

The no spin reality is the Times is on the skids, their readership is way down, advertising revenue is drying up and they've had to rent out space in their building to stay afloat.

And it's not just the Times. Far left newspapers in Atlanta and Seattle have gone belly-up because people no longer want far left editorials in place of hard news.

Yes, the NY Times has become the NY Slimes and unless they wake up and move to the center, they're finished.

You are blind if you think the ny times hasn't changed over the years, or you just dont know what you are talking about. Currently the new york times is running on its reputation ALONE. They have excellent reporters but once ownership changed a couple of years ago, new management took the paper sharply to the left. Its not the reporters faults, its the editors and top brass. I used to like the times, but now i don't even bother reading it. Your post states a newspaper should report the news, and not political opinion, but all they do is print political opinions and call it FACT. That is the problem. You can keep your times, they'll be out of business probably if they dont start getting back to the basics. Your reputation can only take you so far...I find it interesting that you made a post like this , because it almost seems like your trying to defend the paper for some reason, if they are the top dog, then why do you have to make a post saying they are?

Then how do you explain 5 Pulitzer Prizes this year alone? When you make statements like the one I underlined, you show that you are the one who is not believable.

What you just wrote is all spin. The no-spin reality is that the Times has 101 Pulitzer Prizes for journalism, including 5 this year.

There is also a difference between an editorial (Krugman) and a news story. Apparently you don't understand that difference. Apparently you don't like the Times' editorials. That doesn't mean that it isn't a great newspaper. According to the right wing, George Bush was a great president.

Wow! That's amazing! In your bid to slime the times you also perfectly described FOX news! Great work.

C'mon Paul, they give out Pulitzers like candy at Halloween. Just more insider back scratching, same as the Academy Awards and Grammy Awards.

I'm sure Paul is proud of the cartoon run in the Slimes yesterday showing the Statue of Liberty swinging a whip over her head. Just another example of the Slimes "hate America first" agenda of depicting the U.S. as a "torture" nation.

You just made his point - again. You don't like their politics, but they're still the most respected and the best newspaper in the world.

You may not like the cartoon, but the United States did torture under the Bush administration. The cartoon is pointing out how sad that is. If we listened to people like you, we would still have slavery.

The NY Times was once a great newspaper but has drifted far left over the last decade or so.

1. Can you give some examples?

2. If it had drifted far left it would have opposed the war and sounded continual warnings about energy, climate and overpopulation. Those are everyone's concerns, but the left is the only group paying attention to them.

It has gotten so bad at the Times that they will bury or even refuse to print articles that are critical of the left . If they are printed, they are spun to make the most negative information sound wonderful or at least Bush's fault. The NY Times news articles have also become highly editorialized. He just won the Nobel Prize, doofus!

The no-spin reality is that all newspapers are having problems, even Murdoch's right-wing papers. The internet and cable TV have taken people away from newspapers. Everyone knows that this is what is going on, and this point has been made to you over and over. You just ignore it because you're not into facts. Then you have the audacity to accuse other people of "spinning."

Yes, the NY Times has become the NY Slimes and unless they wake up and move to the center, they're finished.

And I suppose you think you're in the center.

So now you're reading The New York Times? Of course not. You're just parroting back what some right wing hate-monger told you to think.

The point of the cartoon is that torture is not consistent with American values. If you had read the accompanying editorial, you might have realized that.

Where did you get this one? My guess is O'Reilly. In any case, it's exactly the opposite of what you're saying.

There you go again with the spin. The point of the cartoon was to infer that we have become a torture nation, which is consistant with the Slimes rantings over water boarding.

A "torture nation?"

We tortured people. That's a fact. The world would still know it whether the Times ran the cartoon or not. And since you didn't read the editorial that went with it, obviously, you don't know what the point was. All you know is what your master told you to think.

". . . rantings over water boarding"?

You don't know what you're talking about. When has the Times ever "ranted" about water boarding? You don't read it, so you don't have any idea. All you know is what your masters tell you to think.

If what we did under Bush is no big deal, then why do you hate the Times for printing it? Seems like you hate everyone who tells you the truth that you don't want to hear.

Infer?

After WW II we tried and convicted Japanese soldiers for waterboarding.

The FACT that we've admitted to waterboarding makes it far more than an inference.

But, no surprise here, YOU are very consistent in your aversion to FACTS.

You really are out of your mind if you think the united states only "tortured" under the bush administration. If you consider that torture.. The united states has been using interrogation techniques since our fore fathers fought for our freedom.

Having a saudi military officals torture someone while a CIA member is in the room to get info that benefits the united states, is still considered the U.S. torturing no? give me a break...

Next you will be blaming bush for the swine flu..

Why do I hate the Slimes...... let me count the ways. The Slimes is a far left biased rag that dislikes a democratic America. Given a choice they would prefer a socialist European style America with no accountability and no responsibility. They prefer baby-killing, gay marriage, open borders, free tuition for illegal aliens and disarming our military.

If you agree with their agenda then you are a certified Kool-Aider, drink up.

As a former NYT subscriber, I can say you're sadly correct. There'e no question the Times has drifted far left and has lost all objectivity in their reporting. I was a subscriber for over 20 years and leading up to the election, I found the one-sided cheerleading for Obama more than I could take.

You want accountability and responsibility? Me too, I can't wait until the Bush Administration is on trial for torture and other assorted war crimes.
