McCain thinks people are stupid

McCain and his Rove-clone handlers will stoop to anything to lie about Barack Obama. Now we read that McCain has demanded an apology, claiming that Obama called Palin a pig. As anyone with just a little bit of common sense would realize, the claim is not true.

This latest flak began with the following comment from Obama on the campaign trail: “‘You can put lipstick on a pig. It's still a pig.You can wrap an old fish in a piece of paper called change. It's still gonna stink. We've had enough of the same old thing.’” http://www.politico.com/blogs/bensmith/090...k_on_a_pig.html

McCain and his lackeys have decided that this was a reference to Palin. So apparently the radical right is now dipping into the political correctness playbook, saying Obama can’t use the word “lipstick” any more. There are two crippling problems with their claim.

First, Obama has used this phrase before. It means exactly what it sounds like: a pig with lipstick is still a pig. Here’s what he said last year, before anyone had any clue that Sarah Palin would be on a McCain ticket: “‘I think that both General Petraeus and Ambassador Crocker are capable people who have been given an impossible assignment,’ Sen. Barack Obama said yesterday in a telephone interview. ‘George Bush has given a mission to General Petraeus, and he has done his best to try to figure out how to put lipstick on a pig.’” http://www.washingtonpost.com/wp-dyn/conte...1301679_pf.html

Second, McCain has also used the phrase. “McCain criticized Democratic contenders for offering what he called costly universal health care proposals that require too much government regulation. While he said he had not studied Democratic candidate Hillary Clinton's health-care plan, he said it was ‘eerily reminiscent’ of the failed plan she offered as first lady in the early 1990s. ‘I think they put some lipstick on a pig, but it's still a pig,’ he said of her proposal.” http://www.swamppolitics.com/news/politics...lth_plan_a.html An insult to women everywhere! Senator McCain should step down as the Republican nominee, resign from the Senate immediately and report to the language police for further instructions.

Give us a breakRepublicans have won elections by diverting people's attention, but this is ridiculous. It's not going to work this time.

The Loony Left is in a panic, Obama is stuttering and stammering. Using the "lipstick on a pig" line just days after Palin used it was just dumb. Apparently Obama's not very good at thinking on his feet. All the polls have Obama falling and his latest pig remarks will cost him among female voters. The defeatocrats are clearly on the defensive and Obama just shot himself in his foot.

Yep, Obama screwed up. He greatly overestimated the honor of his opponents.

I got news for you. The American people, by and large, are stupid. Stupid, lazy and apathetic. If they weren't, candidates like McCain couldn't get away with this crap.

Comments like this are a reason why McCain may win. Your type of comment is repeated and shown all over Middle America as an example of elitist liberal thinking.

I don't think so. No one in politics depends on "honor" to set their political strategy. Obama or his handlers screwed up because, frankly, they're not competent. This is the big time, where you need to get the vote of the whole electorate.

Mouthing "change" or "we can do it" is nice for the party faithful, the primary voters who put him in. The real electorate, the ones who actually elect the president, would like to see something substantial.

Doesn't matter what I say here. Many ignorant people are defensive about their ignorance, and are going to resent people who are smarter than they are. It's sad that American culture encourages this. When all the politicking is over, the country will make the choices it makes. We would be better off with leaders who have intelligence and depth than with would-be leaders who merely appeal to the masses.

And so the amateur has goes to the master for help

In the midst of all this, Mr. Obama had a private lunch on Thursday with someone he battled with for much of the year but who knows how to put the Republicans on the defensive: former President Bill Clinton. Discussion topics, aides said, included how Mr. Obama might handle Ms. Palin in the days ahead.

The Democratic party super delegates must really be wondering if they picked the right guy.
