Guest McDonalds Farm
Lets not forget the other part of this comedy act of a BOE, Munro, King , O'Malley This a major part of the problem that needs to be looked into when you get elected. Guest KHS Lost Money
HOW DOES IT FEEL TO BE A HORSES ASS ? You replied to a post from October 8, 2009Join the real world. MORON Old McDonald had a farm and you where on it. Actually, who ever replied to that "old" post is on the right track. I can't beleive that the LOST MONEY that was taken out of the tax payers pockets have not been a topic of discussion. Once again this "existing BOE" membership drop the ball but will not let this info out. Go to the Observer and request the copy of the paper from approximately 3 years ago. You will see our BOE members with state and local officials posing with shovels on the front page for "groundbreaking" ceremonies at the High School. Since that time the BOE has lost 46 million dollars in Port Authority, SCC and State money to renovate KHS, including new heating system & central air conditioning, new windows, additional class rooms in the center court which is just a 4 story open space that would have been turned into 4 stories of new usable space, repair of all the BRICK on the exterior and numerous other upgrades. Almost a million dollars was spent on design and architect costs. Because the BOE could not "decide" on a design and took years to make a "decision" the Port Authority withdrew the money for the project, things got financially tough for the CSS and State and now Kearny loses the money. Now the money that was going to be given to Kearny is gone and tax payers are now paying the tab for the multi year project to repair the brick work at the High School when this was going to be covered under the original design. Lack of leadership and decision making has cost taxpayers millions. Get out and VOTE! April 20, 2010 PS- If anyone does not beleive this archive the story in the Observer, Jersey Journal and a small piece in the Star-Ledger. Everything stated above is an absolutely lie to mislead voters. Either the writer doesn't have a clue what he is talking about or is an out and out liar. I'll put my money on the 2nd one. Truth of the matter is, the brick repair at the High School was never part of the Port Authority Noise Abatement Project. Brick replacement project was part of the bond referendum passed by the voters a couple of years ago. This contract has been awarded and work is in progress. Port Authority money has nothing to do with indecision by the BOE. Funding has been delayed due to a dispute between the FAA and the Port Authority as to what each of their fair share of the funding is. The BOE was very active in getting the original grant awarded and continues to be very active in trying to resolve the dispute between the FAA and the Port Authority. SCC monies are in place prior to the new regime in Trenton and will be funded when the Port Authority project starts. Yes, this is millions of dollars awarded to the Kearny School District because of the work of the BOE. No cost to the taxpayers. The BOE funded the renovations and additions to Lincoln School the same way. No cost to the taxpayers. Take a look at Lincoln School, it's beautiful. GOOD GOING BOE! Guest Double UP
That's scary. Our eyes and ears are supposed to be the BOE. We are in trouble if the same people get back in. Does anyone realize that the $109.00 increase is based on a house assessed at $80,000 (not $100,000) and that what ever your increase comes out to you have to DOUBLE it. That is because the BOE works on a fiscal year, not a calendar year. So, let's say after computing you would get a $180.00 increase, it would actually be $360.00 because you would get hit now for $180.00 and than another $180.00 in July. The bottom line is, had the BOE started the work, which almost a million dollars in design fees were spent, instead of dragging their feet to make a decision, Kearny would have received 46 million dollars to beautify and improve the crumbling High School. You snooze, you lose! The FAA, Port Authority and the SCC could not keep that kind of money "on the table" any longer. The SCC ran out of money and now the FAA & P.A. are no way forking over anything close to what was originally offered. Let's see you get it back! Oh and by the way, cudos to the great job and proper planning at Lincoln School. The new Science Labs which we need for our middle school are wonderful. It's great we don't have to fit out Franklin School now.
Guest School Watch
The more things change the more they remain the same. What a shame the public really isn't aware of this guy Stevenson and his track record and how he ******* ********** for *** **** and has overseen all this construction. Mr King and Mr OMalley don't be fooled by this guy, he doesn't want you guys snooping around all the change orders and all the money being payed to professional services. Take a good look at this area and ask yourself why is this guy so interested in this construction. Is there a self interest motivating him to being on the board of education?? I sincerly hope you are able to connect the dots and find the answer to this question. Remember this guy had sign up against you, and worked hard to make sure you didn't get elected. Thank God you guys won. Dave isn't happy.

I am confident you will not like the answers you get and Mr Stevenson will have alot of explaining to do on why these major construction projects weren't monitored properly. Look at the total fees that were payed out to these professionals. OMalley, King, follow the money and you may not like what you find. All of the construction projects were within their budgets including the change orders. The total fees paid on each and every project are all in the public record. It's public knowledge. Just ask for a copy. Better yet, try attending a meeting but don't ask O'Malley to follow any money. He was one of those paid contractors. The money went right into his bank account. Guest School Watch
Question; How much was the total amount payed in change orders just for the Lincoln School Project by itself? You may be surprised by the amount. Was it under or over a half million dollars? Does anyone know.

Guest OMalley, King Supporter
Everyone knows that a Kearny Board of Education member name Dave Stevenson , has been on the take for years. Now he is back on the BOE trying to get money for positions , building projects and jobs. It's a good thing that the Prosecutor Chris Christi is keeping an eye on him. His office has already contacted employees and ex-employees of the Kearny Board of Education. Watch your steps Mr. Dave Stevenson your being taped! Oh , and give Barbara Correnti her well deserved job , she has too much integrity to pay you for it. Look at the money being spent and see if there are any personal interests involved. Finally we have a board member who has a construction background other than Stevenson.

Finally we have a board member who has a construction background other than Stevenson. Because these projects were publicly advertised, publicly bid and publicly awarded, how do you figure there are any special interests involved? It was all done out in the open, publicly. O'Malley is the only current board member to have been paid substantial amounts of money (tens of thousands of dollars this past year alone) for electrical work in the Kearny School district. If there's anyone the Kearny taxpayers should be watching, its O'Malley.
Guest SqueelinFromTheFeelin
Over $500,000.00 FACT! It could have been close to $2 Million dollars as allowed by NJ law. Sounds like someone did a pretty good job of keeping costs down and saving the Kearny taxpayers alot of money. Go figure!

They are trying to discredit honest people still, even after the election. King & O'Malley stepped up to try to "CLEAN" up the BOE. They were elected with the most votes ever for a candidate running for the BOE. The people have spoke and they will deliver. O'Malley "was not" paid as a board member, he was paid for completion of work, as a contractor, like any other contractor that does work, do the job get paid. He now has GIVEN UP working as a contractor for the BOE, because that is what the LAW is. Let's see any other person, especially during these economic times give up making a living to do a VOLUNTEER job! There must be something BIG that certain individuals are trying to hide, because King & O'Malley have not even started "scratching" the surface and everyone is trying to cover their tracks. Keep trying to attack "honest, law abiding, hard working" people with your keyboard muscles, I'm sure you will be one of the phonies going down with the ship! Wrong, he is not a supply house, but if the BOE did have to buy light bulbs it wouldn't be from him because he would give them a fair price. The BOE only buys from "friends and family", pays 10 times more than they should and "believes" that is OK!

A BOE "maintenance" boy was shocked while repairing a light fixture in the KHS gym. Now this worker has requested days off to "recover" from the little tingle he got. His request was approved and now the taxpayers are footing the bill for him to play somewhere else. This is why the BOE must hire the most qualified people to do jobs. Simple question "why did this person not turn off the power before working on the light?" God forbid if this person fell from the ceiling and got killed the BOE would be facing a huge lawsuit because they had an unqualified person working on Electric!!! Knowing the BOE, the lights, which were replaced over 18 years ago, were probably done "inhouse" by the BOE's "least qualified" people. OH and step number 1 on working on electricity...... TURN OFF THE POWER!!! No dangerous situation, just a guy who don't know how to do things properly.
