The Town of Harrison has is probably the only town in many states to have more members of a fire dept. than a Police Dept. A FD with a $7 million dollar budget for one square mile is outrageous. They have the annual New Years Eve dumpster fire at the Gardens and maybe one other fire and cannot handle either without the panic button of mutual aid. This cost the taxpayers $3.5 million per fire. Somebody complained complained that they saw someone smoking a blunt on Franklin Ave. With an approx. 48 member PD what do you expect them to do? Count vacations, injuries, sick days, administration (Chief, Dep. Chief., Captains) and many trafffic posts what is left? Not much. During the critical evening, early morning hours the town is down to 2 or 3 cops. I bet you are feeling safer by the minute. If an arrest is a made for something halfway serious, that leaves 1 cop for all of Harrison, while 10 Firemen are peacefully sleeping in their new beds at the Clubhouse on 7th Street. Now a PD SGT. test has been announced a most Officers (good men) are spending $2000-3000 on promtional exam classes with no chances of being promoted. Others in the dept. are making backdoor deals with Mayor McD**ba** to work in acting positions at patrolmans salary in antcipation of getting the money at a later date. The guys spending the cash for classes must love this. These union busting scabs should not be allowed to do this. The HPD has hit rock bottom. You are negotiating for salary increases with members willing to take on added responsibilty with no extra pay. You will never see an acting captain in the HFD. The Mayor and Dep. Mayor Powell wouldn't entertain the notion. Promotion at the HFD means more pay, period. Not so at the HPD. In conclusion, HPD will run scared and buy full tables at the annual cocktail party while the Hfd will remain at home counting their money. They get what they want by just making demands, not cowering with a dysfunctional union like the police.

Guest Firemen & their family vote

If you see what the mayor's interest are, you'll see that the firemen have more family members that vote in town.

We really don't care for your safety.

Need I remind you that the PBA endorsed the new Chief's negotiation to take the position for no money for the 1st year. The above post seems to have skirted that fact. The PBA are a bunch of hypocrites and the FOP just plain S**ks!

I hope you did not pay the $2,000 - $3,000 dollars for a promotional class. If your writing is any indication of your intelligence, you are in a world of hurt. Maybe if you spent more time doing your job, and less on this web site, the town would be safer. I do however agree that more police officers are needed. But, I wish they would be big, strong men and women who will due the job they are trained for, instead of looking the other way, letting the people of the community fend for themselves. Half of the members of the H.P.D. already cut a deal to get the job in the first place. The town should hire from the civil service list, then maybe, we'll get residents from the town, who care about the town, instead of a bunch of name calling cowards.

Someone file an unfair labor practice then you will see results. If not, get those cocktail party tickets and bring your family so they can meet the very people who are never going to promote you and F**K you for life. Don't forget to bring Dep. Mayor Powell a Toys-R-Us gift certificate so he can get his little Halloween trick or treat costume. I think a little McDonough costume would look hideous, but appropriate.

Its say "we are supervisors!" We don't and can't discriminate. How many pba officers have made deals, sold their soles, kissed the right a## in the past? What about your guy that helped strike the deal of the century. What's his reward? He's holding court at the pd, and has more input than any supervisor. So please don't preach about rats while you have your own snakes you never dealt with. By the way, did you let the officers with less than ten years on the job know that you are trying to pull the wool over their eyes again. Didn't work for the top 5 last time. Shame on you! Talk about self serving!!!

If even one of the guys paying for the promotional exam had any brains they would file for an unfair labor practice practice and end this handshake, "I'll work for patrolmans pay," BS with the mayor. Your goal is to get promoted right? Why would you stand by and let anyone do this to you? MCDUMSHIT would have to make them full Sgt. right now or kill the list then you get your shot!!!

Maybe then they shouldn't be standing around for 1-2 hours at a time talking to friends at 11pm or midnight while the cop car idles for the same amount of time. Talk about wasting tax dollars and polluting Harrison even more.

Time to go to a volunteer Fire Dept and put that money now used on the fire dept on the police Dept....Makes more sense to me. It is also time to do something about these FILTHY STREETS IN THIS TOWN.. THIS TOWN IS GETTING DIRTIER BY THE MINUTE. TAKE SOME OF THE DAMN TOWN WORKERS AND MAKE THEM EARN THEIR PAY INSTEAD OF STANDING AROUND PICKING AT THEIR ASSES. HOW MANY HARRISON TOWN WORKERS THAT ARE UNDER ****_____ WINGS DOES IT TAKE TO PLANT A MUM....DUHHHH ^6 , 4 to watch 1to dig the hole and 1 To hold the Mum...Whoops 8 1 to fill the hole back up with dirt and 1 to water it....OH NO THERE IS A HOLE IN THE BUCKET DEAR ******--- , DEAR ******--- , A HOLE IN THE BUCKET OH WHAT SHOULD WE DO?????

God created Police Officers so Firemen could have heroes. Don't forget to surround and drown, or save a foundation from time to time. And don't get angry when your woken up for medical calls, it's your job. How come the new ff hates the ambulance so much?
