You don't expect morale to be good when the politicians circumvent the Civil Service System to put 2 go along guys in the top spots. The rest of the department sees this and figures why should we work hard when all you have to do is kiss the politicians a-- and do whatever they tell you to do. And, you know that your union is not representing you when the PBA Prez goes and sees the Mayor and suddenly he is placed in the day detective bureau with weekends and holidays off and the Superior Officer rep is placed in the day det. bureau with the same benefits as the PBA Prez and the former PBA Prez gets a steady day tour after a visit with the happy Councilman. So what do you expect the otehr cops to do after they see what type of behavior gets you ahead. : :angry:;) o :angry:

Why shouldn't the Patrol Officers call in sick. They were just granted unlimited sick time and work shift work around the clock, while the PBA Prez works steady days with weekends and holidays off. We should all call in sick on weekends until we get steady shifts. The so called Interim Chief professed that shift work is unhealthy when he was on Patrol. Why then, doesn't he give the Patrol Officers steady shifts right now? Whats the incentive for us to come to work on summer weekends when we can just call in sick and stay at the beach.   ;)

The incentive is keeping your job !! Excessive sick time may result in having to get a doctors note for all sick days.

There already is a policy for excessive sick time. 10 Officers were charged, and when the new Chief came in he dropped the charges, so what message does that send to the troops. You can't make us bring a doctors note for each sick day. We will file a grievance and you will lose. Anyway you guys have no b--ls to implement it. ;)

I settle grievances out in the woodshed. YOU will bring in sick slips or you're on vacation .

I came to work every day and what did I get for it. All the sick leave abusers were put in the Detective bureau and on steady shifts, while I remain on shift work. Our Interim Chief has no concept of how to run a department. He takes care of the guys who abuse the system and does nothing for the rest of us. Maybe he's afraid of getting a grievance or lawsuit because the guys that put them in have been the biggest abusers of the system.
