  1. "lets get some facts out there...congress was ran by the democrats for most of the time bush was in office, and while in charge republicans were bringing up warnings about fanny and freddie and the mortgage crisis coming...time and time again democratic congressman made fun and even screamed at economists and others about ringing false alarms about the economy..barny frank and nancy pelosi are two people who are part of the problem...go to youtube and search congress, and freddy and fanny..you will see for yourself.." Here is a breakdown of congress from 1995 to 2009: Senate House Democrats Republicans Democrats Republicans 1995-1997 48 52 204 230 1997-1999 45 55 207 226 1999-2001 45 55 211 223 2001-2003 50 50 212 221 2003-2005 48 51 205 229 2005-2007 44 55 202 231 2007-2009 49 49 233 202 2009-2011 56 42 257 177 http://one-simple-idea.com/CongressMakeUp_1855_2008.htm
  2. "There are African Americans, Mexican Americans, Asian Americans, Arab Americans, etc. And then there are just Americans." What about Irish-Americans, Polish-Americans, Italian-Americans, Indian-Americans, etc? Ever since the 60s I've heard white people complain that they were not given a job or a promotion because a lesser-qualified person of a minority or a woman got the job. You would think that, by the 80s, this country would have completely collapsed because of all of the unqualified people who were running things. Okay, things did get bad in the past eight years but that was due to one incompetent white man. "By the way, you speak of the above listed organizations that are available to "blacks" because the needed assisstance to "break through the walls of exclusion". Well, I do believe they (blacks) have made it to the mountain top and NOW that there is a BLACK President, I do not think these organizations are NEEDED any more! How about practicing what they preach, "equality for all". Now drop affirmative action as well! The opportunity for advancement is there for everyone, (white, black, yellow and any other color) it is what you make of it!" Racism isn't going to go away just because one black man has been elected to the presidency. "Let's see which of you are proud enough to send it on. I sadly don't think many will. That's why we have lost most of OUR RIGHTS in This Country. We won't stand up for ourselves!" What exactly are these rights you have lost? Name five of them.
  3. 2dumb4words: I'd say you have a lot of 'splainin' to do. PatRat: Are you admitting you think oral sex is immoral? I feel sorry for you, almost.
  4. Rat: Do you have any idea what "incestuous" means? Clinton had sex with an adult woman. Congress had no right to ask him questions that were that personal. Democrats are not parading around shouting about "family values." It's the hypocritical Republicans doing that. I would like to know how you explain the following list of Republican wrongdoings: Don't be too happy. Your party has its share --- Republican congressman and anti-gay activist Robert Bauman was charged with having sex with a 16-year-old boy he picked up at a gay bar. Reincarnation ?

The people on the ground in a war zone often only see a very small part of the conflict. There are vets coming back who say that the war isn't going so well. I bet the people being bombed in the Green Zone the other day thought everything was just peachy.

    Reincarnation ?

Iran is not an Arab nation. I didn't read PatRat's comment the way you did. Hitler always hated and underestimated Great Britain, just like the Japanese misunderestimated the US. They thought that Pearl Harbor would demoralize the nation and we would beg for peace. In this day of being able to record everything, any meeting between President Obama and Ahmadinejad would be recorded. Of course, anyone could distort and re-edit the recordings (check any right wing blog), but the truth would still be out there. What would be gained in the way of trying to influence the feelings of the Muslim world by a face-to-face meeting would be far better than just dropping a few thousand bombs.

    Reincarnation ?

And the war in Iraq and Afghanistan is going soooo well.

    Reincarnation ?

You just gotta love the "Screw diplomacy; bomb'em to hell" crowd for their consistency. Obama didn't say he would roll over and play dead, he said he would like to meet with Ahmadinejad. Extrapolating anything more is dishonest.
  9. So now everyone who supports the constitutional idea of separation of church and state is a nutty atheist? No sane person would ever say that the words "separation of church and state" are in the constitution. The same goes for "religious displays." The point is that the Constitution does not spell out specifics. It needs to be interpreted and the Supreme Court has interpreted the Constitution to mean that the state cannot favor one religion over another. This includes not allowing school prayer, bible reading, and public displays of religious symbols. Their interpretation is the only one that counts, not yours, Mr Paszkiewicz.
  10. It could be the Right's consistent habit of stepping on other people's civil rights and the Left's concerned for the civil rights of others.
  11. The law forbidding abortion was overturned by the Supreme Court. It did not make a new law. The Supreme Court based their decision on the right to privacy. If you do not believe there is a right to privacy you would have to believe that the government has the right to tell you what to do in your own bedroom, to tell you that you can or cannot use birth control, and that your medical records and your dicussions with lawyers and clergy are not private. None of the rights I just mentioned are included in the Constitution explicitly.
  12. I'm sure the original use of DP here was just shorthand for David Paszkewicz but another poster tried to make more out it. I grew up in an eastern european immigrant community on the south side of Chicago and the derogatory use of the term was widespread. I don't know of its usage outside of the midwest.
  13. Hey Loki! I'm still waiting for the new laws the Supreme Court has come up with.
  14. And what new laws has the Supreme Court made?
