A message of support for Matthew LaClair

Is there any sort of scholarship fund (or, if necessary -- and I hope it's not -- legal fund) for Matthew LaClair, with a publicly posted address? If so, I would be honored to make a contribution, if I could determine where to send it.

Thanks.

WOW! A scholarship fund for Matthew! Do you supporters even know anything else about him besides a kid blowing the whistle on a teacher? Is he involved in community services? Is he on the Honor Society? Active in Student Government? Does he belong to any school teams? or Clubs?

If you have any spare money, I have a bridge I could sell you.

Wasn't it stated a while back that Matthew insisted his father not get involved around the time shortly before he started recording the classes?

Oh he did? Ok, that ought to make him a hero now! :P Matthew you are an idiot! You have to grow up, don't let daddy use you anymore!

Use your eyes.

Obviously, his father got involved down the road, but I am saying that when it came to taking that initial action against Mr. P. by recording his transgressions, Matthew acted alone.

It's obvious Mr. P.'s apologists have now started to try and make it look like Matthew's father has been manipulating him all along (not that that would change the issue in any discernable way--Mr. P. was still caught violating the Constitution without regard or remorse). Of course, this is all baseless accusation with no evidence whatsoever.

What's a matter, guys, does it scare you that much that your fundie buddy was caught by a teenager? Does that damage your collective ego so much that you have to start inventing conspiracy theories, anything that might make the kid look bad?

Let's review the lies his apologists have completely made up and tried to pass off as truth, at least the ones I can remember off the top of my head:

1. Matthew purposely got himself into Mr. P.'s class. FALSE

2. Matthew's sister had class with Mr. P. (without incident) FALSE

3. Something about either he and/or his sister having study hall with Mr. P.? FALSE

4. Everything Mr. P. said about religion was in response to a question from either Matthew or another student. FALSE

5. Matthew's father put him up to everything he did, with motives of money or possibly vendetta. FALSE

Without even going into the erroneous interpretations of the Constutition several people have presented to somehow make the case that Mr. P. did nothing wrong, I'll stop there.

I have no sympathy for people cowardly enough to start making things up in a desperate attempt to incriminate someone who caught his teacher doing very obvious wrong. I can only laugh at the attempts and at the continual thoughts of "lying for Jesus" those posts bring to my mind.

 Interesting point...who is the real Matt....is he a well rounded person or focused on only one thing in his life? These people making him out to be a hero should really give a long hard thought to who they are supporting.

Even if the issue he stood up for was the only thing in his life that he was focused on, I would still consider him a commendable individual, partly because of the amount of people who are shockingly so opposed to the Establishment Clause. From what I've heard, though, he's not an ordinary teenager in his own right, anyhow.

EDIT: Oh boy, was I wrong--Matthew's been all over the place, and done a lot of really cool stuff prior to this event. He is a truly remarkable individual. I mean, lead role in an Off-Broadway play, state champion orator winning a college scholarship in EIGHTH grade (so much for that whining about "the issue" being a way for him to get into college because of reputation instead of merit), the list goes on...

It's what Christians do to justify their whole fraudulent religion - they create "apologists" to rationalize all the nonsense they grew up believeing without question.

Also, everyone seems to question Matt's motives, but no really seems to question Mr. P's motives, which seem obvious and very questionable.

More obvious than questionable now, since his rant in The Observer, only because basically any 'question' of his motives has gone out the window--he's made his motives quite clear.

Mr. P's motive is very obvious. He wants to save souls. He's not interested in teaching anything that's not in the Bible.

He's a fundamentalist Baptist, whose SOLE PURPOSE in life is to get more converts to Jesus.

he has no other function according to his Bible. He is COMMANDED BY JESUS (Paul really) to spread the word and save souls for Jesus.

This moron has a teaching certificate! He is teaching children! How long before he starts molesting them like other closet homosexuals in the Baptist Church? Ted Haggard? Mark Foley?

Get this moron out of town before it's too late.

Matt, as a teacher, I'm proud to know that there are still people like you in the world who will stand up for what's right.

Please don't mistake the idiots who are harassing you, for Christians. No Christian who actually trusts Jesus or understands what salvation is, would do what your teacher did. No genuine Christian would support what he did.

Hang in there, and remember why your teacher was disciplined and you were not. You're pretty much in the same place as if a student had committed a crime, and you turned him in. A few of your classmates would be upset that you did it. But everyone knows what sort they are.

Keep it up.

Pat

Please let the list go on. I need to hear more.

If you mean winning the Kearny Optimist Club then so be it and it is not a scholarship. Guess that is a state championship. Strife it is amazing how little you know for the amount of trash you post here.

Tell me what has Matthew done for Kearny High School? Tell me what good he has done for this town. You know the town you live in and are so quick to try to destroy. Everything you say has no relevance and you finish your sentences with question marks all the time.

Please tell me what college scholarship since you are so intimate with the ongoings with young Matthew. Is the blood money he earned equal to the money he has cost this town? Just wondering. So many teachers having to do sensitivity training that had nothing to do with it and at the cost of the taxpayers.

You can't even go by your real name here but you post here all the time. People should know.

He won in Kearny, as he would have to do to go on to the state contest. Then he won at state, and there's a scholarship. Ask the Optimists if you don't believe me.

If you can't see what Matthew LaClair has done for Kearny, it's only because you do not wish to see it. The rest of the world sees it. (As if every student in Kearny has made a great contribution to the town. We don't expect that of 16-year-olds.) Matthew has made an enormous contribution in making people aware of serious violations going on at Kearny High. That is far beyond what most 16-year-olds do, or people of any age for that matter. When is the last time you were cited for courage by a major national newspaper?

Blood money? If you're going to use inflammatory terms like this, don't you think you should connect them to some facts? Matthew has had many teachers. This one is in outer space, and Matthew has called him on it. You just don't like it.

Kearnyites who defend this teacher: You're making yourselves look silly. The world has laughed and you, and will laugh again if you keep this up. Stop being so stubborn and look at what you're being told. Stop, look and think.
