Guest WClinton
And what does this have to do with Kearny? <{POST_SNAPBACK}> are you that nieve ... when the mayor says property taxes have to go up and the reason is PD FD and town workers ...not county or SChool or management
Guest Guest
The first thing the politicians do is dump all of the financial woes on the town workers, whether it's Police, Fire, Clerical, DPW, or what have you. Gov Whitman gave the towns a "Break" when she was in office to try and offset some of the costs by allowing them an amnesty on making Pension contributions. The Employees still made Their payments, but the towns did not. With this 50% reduction in income for the Pension funds, coupled with REALLY bad investing on the part of the state, now some of the pensions are so far behind where they should be, there's a real worry that they can never be made right. But hey, it's all the Employees faults...right? When the Town went over FOUR YEARS with no Contracts for ANY of the workers, Police, fire, or CS-11, because Goggle-eyes Bobby C wanted a rep as a union breaker...once the contracts were settled who was blamed???? Now with the new Town Administrator we're havingt he same things...refusal to bargain in good faith, which means longer no-contract times, and larger Retro payments. Tye Mayor and council blame this on the Administrator..but Who does HE work for? I know in my job, if I go off like a loose cannon, and cost MY boss money, i'll be looking at the unemployment line The town wasnt to install GPS units in all vehicles..understandable, it IS nice to be able to keep track of what the employees are doing..but at WHAT cost?? How much per GPS unit?? and lets not forget the $75.00 per month monitoring fee, PER CAR. How many vehicles does the town have between the PD, FD, and other departments, 50?? 75?? 100?? The towns were given a break by a Governor who was mad that she wasnt allowed to just Raid the pension funds the way she wanted to, this policy was continued by McGreevey, Codey, and AFAIK, Corzine..but it's all the employees fault, not the politicians who hold 3-8 othr jobs all collecting pensions. Guest Guest
Why were they allowed to stop paying for so long? If the members of the pension systems paid, why did they feel their obligation ended?
Guest Guest
Why were they allowed to stop paying for so long? If the members of the pension systems paid, why did they feel their obligation ended? <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Because the State TOLD the towns they didnt have to pay.. The problem is, they took what was supposed to be a short-term benefit to the towns, and decided that it was permanant....now, instead of paying back what they OWE their employees, they're crying poor, and blaming the shortfall on the people who have actually BEEN making the payments that are required of them. It's all a colossal shell game, with the politicians palming the pea at every chance they get. Remember, the pension ABUSE out there is from the double, triple, quadruple, and so-on dippers..the people holding multiple Govt jobs on the Municipal, Copunty, State or combination levels, and recieving Pensions from ALL of them. Your average Cop, Fireman, Teacher, DPW worker, ect work ONE job, and get ONE pension.
Guest Loki
Does this mean that the double and triple dippers are the ones castigating public employees? Gee, look how much THOSE people take from the taxes, meanwhile when we look over there, they're elbow deep in the taxpayer till. FANTASTIC. This reeks of mendacity, can anyone else smell the mendacity?
