If you can convince your enemy it's fruitless to continue resisting, that defeat is inevitable, your troops will have an easier time winning the war. Conversely, if your enemy is seeing news reports every night of non-support of the war effort, of criticizing the president, it encourages them to keep fighting and increase their efforts. This shouldn't be difficult to understand. Yet the defeatocrats ignore this fact and continue to encourage the enemy with their diatribes against Bush. The war that he chose to start was a failure before we ever got to Iraq.
