Lets see, Police Dept 3 1/2 years without a contract, Council 11, 3 1/2 yearss without a contract, Fire Dept 2 1/2 years without a contract..all of which had to be paid at ONCE when the incoming mayor and council finally settled the contracts. Police and Fire Depts were cut back drastically to 99 men each..Response times were longer, calls went unanswered, equipment was breaking and not being repaired...Robbing Peter to pay Paul might work on the short term, but eventually it all comes back around. I've even heard employees saying they wish Vartan was still mayor. When you enter the Town hall ask the employees if they are happy with the present administration. And as far as the police and fire depts. are concerned they are paid to much now and were then None of them live in town and don't pay the taxes and who cares, just give me my money so I can go home to the shore and retire after 25 years making 7000.00 a month doing nothing. When he got elected (with the help of some Dems who ironicly now hold big jobs in Kearnyor their family members), he neglected his practice and was unable to handle many matters because of his office. He raised a ton of campaign money thru Harry and that's the money he was taking and paying to himself and lying on his campaign reports. He should have neverrun for office he walks a dangerous line.
