Today's Journal headline is amazing, Imagine having the highest per pupil cost in Hudson County (16 G's per) and receiving such poor scores on the DOE report card. Each member of the Board of ED. should resign immediately.

Maybe they should release 2 of the 3 superintendants they have. That would cut 250 K in tax payers Cabbage.

What we need to do is go to a Board Of Education meeting, request the salary guide for Administrators in the district, starting with the Superintendent's office, then the building Principal's, V.Principals, Guidance office to see what these clowns are earning and how little they do !

What we must do is attend a Board of Education meeting, request the Salary guide for the district's Administrators and supervisors from the Board secretary. Start with the Superintendents office, Building Principals and Assistant Principals, Guidance offices and see what these clowns are earning and what little they do.

If we can't see the salaries, drop a dime on Christie's office.

At $16G, Harrison kids No. 1

The 1,800-student Harrison public school district zoomed to the top of the chart in per-pupil spending in Hudson County last year, according to the state's School Report Card.

The Harrison school district spent $15,890 per pupil last year - a whopping 58.6 percent increase from the previous year, the report states. The amounts tops second-place finisher Jersey City by $1,470.

Harrison Superintendent of Schools Anthony Comprelli didn't return phone calls yesterday to comment on the spending increase.

Both Harrison and Jersey City, along with Union City, West New York and Hoboken in Hudson County, are "Abbott" districts, and therefore are heavily subsidized by the state. But even so, taxpayers in Harrison picked up 23 percent of the tab, while Jersey City taxpayers shouldered only 13 percent of the school bill.

The Hoboken school district led the county in administrative cost per pupil ($1,793) and median faculty salary ($77,320).

Everyone would be shocked to see the salaries of these people. The taxpayers of Harrison are paying TOP DOLLAR while their kids are in trailers. What's wrong with this picture.

If we are paynig more than any other Hudson county town per pupil and are a 'heavily' subsidized Abbott district, then the town council and mayor 'should' lower our 'local' taxes.

PS The kids learned more fifty yearts ago , with forty kids in a class, older books that were used ? And more kids could read and articulate better, because the teachers held them back a grade to repeat that grade, if they were not fairly caught up with the work in that class. YOU CAN'T PROGRESS IN THE NEXT GRADE, IF YOU DON'T KNOW THE WORK IN THE PREVIOUS GRADE.

As someone wrote the other day in the Star Ledger editorial page, the new slogan to replace "New Jersey and YOU, perfect together." should be "New Jersey and YOUR WALLET, perfect together.

Hey !! Do you think it's easy living at the shore and commuting all the way up to Harrison ? Gas is way up, tolls, wear and tear on the car, we need a big raise just to be able to handle these increased costs. The taxpayers know we're underpaid so they won't object to any increases we get.
