That's why certain people have now have jobs on the K W D without testing they worked for the company that now does the billing and they just happened to get the job here without even taking a civil service test....I shouldn't say people just a person .....it pays to have family running the KWD brothers fathers and sons and girlfriends do stick together don't they? All they have to do now is get rid of the workers and they all get more money every week. Pay contractors watch them work and get a big fat pay check. That's a sweet deal. And if people are getting jobs with out tests (I assume you mean titled positions) then civil service should be notified to see if it is legal. The user data we rec'd from East Orange was horrible. The plan was to use United Water for one year, have them clean up the database, then the Town would resume the billings. Instead, five years later, we're still paying United Water over $300,000 a year. In 2004 I argued that if we resumed our own water billings the 2004 water rate increase would've been unnecessary. If we're serious about trying to keep taxes down, the United Water contract needs to be re-visited. Are we serious about trying to keep taxes down? Work the town use to do for a lot less. Big deal they sell some water, that's all spent on salaries and contrators. Sure glad we got the water back. I wonder if the KMUA will take this dept. over. A dept is suppose to take care of the system and maintain it as Kearny did in the past. Not create easy jobs that cost the tax payers twice. We have Neglia engineering for making reports and evaluating the communities supply system. Hope those that used the issue politically crying we want our water back are enjoying their high tax and water bills. ( Except for Doyle, most of them have sold and moved, she's on the council & her husband is judge,,why move)(the water dept. continues to operate at a deficit and the town continues to bail it out financially through the general funds which raises taxes, the best kept secret in town. & United continues to do the billing..go figure.
