The Town of Kearny will hold a public meeting on February 27, 2007 at which time consultants hired by the Town will present the results of a CSO Long Term Control Plan (LTCP) being prepared as required by the General NJPDES Permit for combined sewer systems.
This meeting is for informational purposes only and no formal action will be taken. The LTCP is a feasibility study to evaluate the means, costs and effectiveness of control alternatives for reducing the frequency and volume of CSO discharges, as well as different levels of pretreatment and disinfection of CSO discharges.
The public will have the opportunity to comment on the consultant’s findings. The meeting will be held at 6pm at Kearny Town Hall, 402 Kearny Avenue, Kearny. Comments from the public will be included in the Public Participation Report that will be submitted to the NJ Department of Environmental Protection. The meeting is the public’s opportunity to voice opinions so the NJ Department of Environmental Protection can consider this input and the economic impact of CSO controls when setting new permit requirements for CSO discharges.
