9:30 a.m. in front of the East Newark Town Hall at 34 Sherman Ave. Mayor Joseph Smith and Council members will be in attendance.
The program will include a musical performance by James Woods, a bagpiper from the Harrison Fire Department and Uno Cunha, an East Newark high school student who plays the trumpet.
U.S. Marine Lance Cpl. Gilbert Torres also will be present and will give a presentation on his experience in the war in Iraq, followed by a representative from Albert Ettlin American Legion Post 36. The Rev. Anthony Granato of St. Anthony's Church will officiate as chief clergy.
At 10:22 a.m., to the tune of "Amazing Grace," the Town Hall flag will be raised from half to full staff.
