Many people believe the ACLU is a "good" organization, champion of the little guy and all that stuff. What they are in reality is a radical left-wing organization that is committed to the secularization of America; removal of any mention of God in our country. Secularization also means anything goes, no prohabitions on any kind of behavior. That's why they defend NAMBLA. That's why they fought to keep the Boy Scouts from camping on public lands in California ( they're a christian organization and they might say a prayer on public lands). That's why they fought to remove the cross from the Mt. Soledad war memorial in San Diego ( a cross that honors the soldiers killed in our wars).

I'm sure the ACLU saw this LaClair issue as an opportunity to show all the "good" they do for americans, but don't buy it. Any "good" they do is only a smoke screen for their real agenda.

Ad hominem in the form of reverse appeal to authority.

People like you are cowards. You have no real answer to the issue, so you resort to childish smear tactics.

Can you argue against the ACLU acting in line with the Constitution? I dare you to show evidence that they are arguing against it.

The American system of government is founded on two counterbalancing principles: that the majority of the people governs, through democratically elected representatives; and that the power even of a democratic majority must be limited, to ensure individual rights.

Majority power is limited by the Constitution's Bill of Rights, which consists of the original ten amendments ratified in 1791, plus the three post-Civil War amendments (the 13th, 14th and 15th) and the 19th Amendment (women's suffrage), adopted in 1920.

The mission of the ACLU is to preserve all of these protections and guarantees:

Your First Amendment rights-freedom of speech, association and assembly. Freedom of the press, and freedom of religion supported by the strict separation of church and state.

Your right to equal protection under the law - equal treatment regardless of race, sex, religion or national origin.

Your right to due process - fair treatment by the government whenever the loss of your liberty or property is at stake.

Your right to privacy - freedom from unwarranted government intrusion into your personal and private affairs.

We work also to extend rights to segments of our population that have traditionally been denied their rights, including Native Americans and other people of color; lesbians, gay men, bisexuals and transgendered people; women; mental-health patients; prisoners; people with disabilities; and the poor.

If the rights of society's most vulnerable members are denied, everybody's rights are imperiled.

The ACLU was founded by Roger Baldwin, Crystal Eastman, Albert DeSilver and others in 1920. We are nonprofit and nonpartisan and have grown from a roomful of civil liberties activists to an organization of more than 500,000 members and supporters. We handle nearly 6,000 court cases annually from our offices in almost every state.

The ACLU has maintained the position that civil liberties must be respected, even in times of national emergency. The ACLU is supported by annual dues and contributions from its members, plus grants from private foundations and individuals. We do not receive any government funding.

Its a sad irony that all the people coming on here to attack the ACLU are named things like "patriot" and "American." If you guys think that anyone in this country does not have their Constitutional rights, especially those outlined in the First Amendment, then you don't truly deserve the name "American," not even on a message board.

Do you attack public defenders for advocating the cause of a rapist or a mugger? Being a lawyer for someone's cause does not mean you agree with that person. Legal advice is a necessity in many parts of life, and you are seriously mistaken to equate the ACLU (or any law firm) with their clients.

The truth about Christian Ministers:

I guess Christians like to spend $20,000,000 on private Jet planes to spread the Gospel.

The truth about the poster called "Patriot":

Sorry, couldn't resist that last one

But you can see how stupid your arguments are when you generalize and pick one detail to amplify. Good thing for me, the christian church is chock full of hypocrisy, pedophelia, murder, mass slaughter, etc.
