Street Cleaning

Wouldn’t it make more sense for the DPW to increase their basin cleaning schedule, than to have thousand of residents move their cars for street cleaning.  Many residents have to leave there homes during this time of pandemic risking their health.

How many times is the Mayor going to call us this weekend to tell us that Street Cleaning starts on Monday.  Why does the Mayor sound younger today than the other day?

Whoever wrote this article equating the importance of food shopping during a pandemic  with street cleaning is one sick puppy.  Does he know that the governor has declared a state of emergency and is asking everyone to stay home?  Every five minutes there is a health official on TV asking people to stay home.

The Town of Harrison has already accrued 351 know cases of the virus with 19 deaths. Yet the mayor and council have ordered thousands of residents, some of whom are sick, sheltering in place, or quarantining to leave there home so they can clean the streets.

If this person lives in town he should know how valuable parking places are, with people not going to work, or  out shopping because many places of business are closed. The original proposal was to resume the four-hour street cleaning regimen. People should wander around for four hours, outdoors during a pandemic so they can clean the street.

If cleaning the sewer catch basins is the problem, shouldn’t the Department of Public Works step up.  We have some of the most expensive  catch basin cleaning equipment available, can’t they have people work overtime to clean the basins or bring in outside contractors.  If there is an immediate problem it should be spotted by the councilman that is in charge of the Department of Public Works.   He rides around town all day in his unmarked town truck.

As a town resident I am surprised that the mayor and council would force people the leave their homes during a pandemic, when there is a simple solution available.  Maybe the mayor should call the governor and request an exemption to his state of emergency order so our catch basins can get cleaned.

The President of the United States formed a panel of the top infectious disease doctors in the country, the Surgeon General, the CDC, most governors and the worlds top doctors recommend staying home during this pandemic.

In the Town of Harrison, the mayor and council have taken the advice of the “Sweeper Guy,” and determined it is safe to go out and move your car.  Nuff said, please stop calling us mayor.

Wait a minute, who is the councilman with the unmarked town vehicle?  Do all the council men get town vehicles for personal use?  In our mile square there is no place you can't walk to in twenty minutes.  Is this a perk the councilmen get?  No wonder Harrison has the highest property tax rate in Hudson County.

Even the mayor cant justify this. My councilman in the third ward drives a jalopy, the guy with the car must live in another ward.  These cars should be taken away immediately.  What’s next chauffeurs?

The “Sweeper Guy” was right when he had the Mayor and Council have the residents of Harrison get out of their homes to move their cars for street cleaning.

The only car in my neighborhood not moved for street cleaning was Dolahan’s truck.  Why does he get an unmarked town truck to park on the street?  This is how the town spends my tax dollar?  Fife should be ashamed. Dolahan has no shame, when he leaves his unmarked truck on the street for street cleaning

Harrison could be known as the town with the cleanest streets and the sickest people.  Over 400 cases of  the virus in our mile square.  Fife lost my vote on this one.

What the hell is going on here?  The "Sweeper Guy" must have his nose pretty far up the mayors butt to get his way on this one.  More disturbing is  Dolaghan gets a truck for his personal  use.  Is this where my tax dollar is going?  Fife should not only be voted out he should be ashamed of himself.

The recent rain and floods bring us back to the first post.  With all our street cleaning,
people forced to move their cars, we still have flooded streets and basements.  Lets get the DPW to clean the catch basins which they should have done in the first place.  The “Sweeper Guy” should get his nose out of the mayors butt, and get to work.  You can use Dolaghan’s unmarked town truck if you need it, he just rides around town with it.  Maybe you can take the mayor for a ride in it and spoon feed him more Mularkey

The last COVID update on the town website was on March 30, 2020.  It indicated there were 415 cases of the virus and 22 deaths.  I wonder what the number is now since we were forced out of our homes to move our cars for street cleaning
