Guest Guest
Species are going extinct at a rate 1,000 times faster than the natural rate over the past 65 million years. An area of forests the size of West Virginia is being lost every year, since 2000. Even in the United States, 15-20% of the population lives in poverty, which is far less than the rate in many other parts of the world. The world's population is expected to reach 10 billion by 2050. We are killing ourselves. This isn't coming from some leftie. It's coming from Forbes magazine, a pro-business publication. Even business leaders are starting to realize that they have no future unless we start to address these problems. And of course, if any of the usual cast of idiots responds to this, it will be the usual fact-free snot-nosed, juvenile remark that completely ignores the facts. They can do that for now. But before long, we're all going to be looking at this every day, and all the time, because it's going to be right at our front door - every one of us. Pay now or pay more later. A reasonable and responsible person says let's take action now, so we can avoid the catastrophe that IS coming our way if we do not act to prevent it. Nothing of that you just listed has anything to do with global warming. It has everything to do with population increases.
Guest Guest
Duh. Nothing of that you just listed has anything to do with global warming. It has everything to do with population increases. As usual, you're wrong. Global warming is a key threat to biodiversity. [see "Global Warming and Extinctions of Endemic Species from Biodiversity Hotspots," published in Conservation Biology Volume 20, No. 2, 538-548 (2006). It's a pdf file, so I provided the title instead of a link. You can easily look it up.] One-fourth of Earth's species could be headed for extinction by 2050 as a result of climate change. Widespread amphibian extinctions are occurring as a result of global warming. Global warming changes disease dynamics, and species cannot adapt to the changes quickly enough to survive. Researchers have been quantifying these risks since at least 2004. I could easily supply you with peer-reviewed literature from experts in the respective sciences, clearly demonstrating that global warming is also causing deforestation and poverty. Or you could do the research yourself by Googling "global warming and deforestation" and "global warming and poverty." So I'll give you a day or two. Prove to us that you passed the 8th grade, and are capable of doing to little research before you go flapping off with your usual infantile babble. Not to mention that population and global warming/climate change are related problems. You just popped off in your usual reactionary way, without bothering to consider that the author of the Forbes piece might just have known what he was talking about. You could have gotten this information by yourself, if you were interested in the facts. You're not interested in the facts. That's the problem with everything you say on this subject. The facts mean nothing to you. And if you want a second opinion, you're still an idiot.

It has everything to do with population increases. You truly are one of the most ignorant, and stubborn people I've ever encountered. Global warming results in rapid changes in the environment. Species cannot adapt to then, so they go extinct. Some forests cannot survive amid these changes. When key resources are affected in that manner, poverty rates go up. And the growing population makes it all harder to deal with. A reasonable person who is wrong about everything, as you are, would shut up instead of continuing to embarrass himself. Guest Guest
Since 2Stupid4Words, a/k/a "JustJudy" insists on ignoring the connection between global warming and deforestation, here are a few links for those who are interested in the truth. Deforestation reduces photosynthesis, which is the process that removes carbon dioxide from the atmosphere. With more carbon, the atmosphere contains more heat-trapping carbon and causes more global warming. Deforestation is a further cause of global warming. "Tropical deforestation accounts for about 10 percent of the world's heat trapping emissions." Deforestation results in degradation of land quality, and results in loss of habitat and further climate change. So yes, it is connected to population, but these issues must all be considered together to determine what the best and necessary responses are. Anyone who denies that is just being ignorant. But then, that is obvious from posts 5 and 6.
Guest Guest
Climate change is likely to contribute to epidemics like the Zika virus. As Earth warms, mosquito populations will thrive. Because mosquitoes feed on human blood and move from one human to another, they can easily spread diseases. These are facts.

Guest Guest
Most people don't want to acknowledge how big a threat global warming is. The result of that will be that our children will pay the price of our greed and selfishness. We need to address these problems, and vote for candidates who will address it. We need green technologies, now.

Guest Guest
Aren't you aware that global warming and cooling has been occurring for millions of years? Read a book on it, there's nothing humans can do to alter or change it. Stupid, You can't even read what's on this page. That point has been addressed with you dozens of times. Climate change is happening at an unprecedented rate - too fast for species to adapt to it, and too fast for humans to adapt to it without major economic and human life disruptions. Humans are causing these rapid changes to occur, by putting too much carbon into the atmosphere via the burning of fossil fuels. All the reputable books say that, as do the IPCC and NOAA reports. And going by a different name isn't fooling anyone. On another topic page, you said you were done commenting on this subject. Too bad you couldn't keep your word. Almost as if they were the same person, I guess someone desperately wants to appear as if people agree with him. Yes, my second sentence is an example of what I mean. Same sentence structure from 2Stupid appears over and over. Pretty obvious as well as pathetic

And it is true, global warming and cooling has been happening for millions of years. Or do you deny that too? We've refuted everything you've posted, dozens of times. Just scroll up the page, you'll see it. We're getting too much warming, too fast. Populations, both human and non-human cannot adapt to it. So they're going to suffer, or die. You're still not fooling anyone with your several SNs. You broke your promise. And you're still an idiot.

And it is true, global warming and cooling has been happening for millions of years. Or do you deny that too? Like I said, same sentence structure. Of course the earth has warmed and cooled. The difference is that human chemicals are intensifying the warming-the earth has never warmed this quickly. I shouldn't have to refute it when it has been refuted every time you've posted it. Still pathetic that you claim to be multiple posters.

It is the rate in which the change is taking place that is creating the concern. The carbon content in our atmosphere is has recently equaled that of 35 million years ago. That is when there where palm trees in the arctic and alligators in Canada. This is according the fossil record. The only difference is that this change in the composition of the atmosphere has taken place in a meager one hundred +/- years.......not 35 million. Ecosystems can not adapt fast enough. But hey, don't let facts spoil your day.Luckily, there are multiple methods that all say the same thing. My day is fine, because you have nothing but the old "that's just a theory backed by evidence but not a definite fact!" that you use in creationist threads. But hey, don't let facts spoil your day. Here's the thing I don't understand about that argument. Just like with evolution, there are multiple strands of evidence saying the same thing. Even if you want to say that they're all wrong without explaining the bizarre coincidence, you haven't at all shown that what you're saying is true! There's a reason I compared you with a creationist in my last post-you are using the same illogical argument.
