Where did global warming go ?

Last week I read a report from Australia reporting the South Pole ice field was huge, the biggest in many years. Today I'm reading an article about Iceland, saying the same thing, the most ice in a long time.

Can it be that Al Gore was promoting global warming for political reasons, to promote a green agenda? And of course zerO and all the tree huggers jumped on board. Global warming is going the same way as Solyndra and all the other green inititives by the Loonies.

No matter how many times we go over this, you insist on displaying your ignorance. "Overall the Earth is losing sea ice at a rate of 35,000 sq km per year (13,514 sq miles)." That fact is not changed by variations from region to region. Here is the 2014 report from the IPCC.

Anyone who is interested in the facts probably knows these things already. Anyone who is interested in the facts but doesn't know these things will read the IPCC report, at least the summary. Anyone who isn't interested in the facts will continue to believe that global warming isn't real.

Stupid,

It's global warming, not regional warming. And it's measured over decades, not just a few years. The data are clear: global warming is real, it's manmade, and we need to do something about it.

Why on earth wouldn't you want clean energy technologies? They would be better for the environment, cheaper, and we wouldn't have to import them. They would create long-lasting jobs all over the country. And when they replace fossil fuels, as inevitably they will do, we won't be tempted to sink our so-called "defense" dollars into propping up corrupt, anti-democratic regimes in the Middle East; or be tempted to get involved in the numerous wars we've gotten into in that region because it has so much oil.

So why is your political agenda, transparently, to oppose clean, inexhaustible technologies? Could it be that you're too stupid to realize that the oil companies are using their vast wealth to propagandize you? And too stupid to realize that opposing clean technologies is costing you money. Not "could be." You are.

But of course we're not going to have a real discussion with you about this or anything else, because you're just another far-right-wing sheeple who thinks you're getting the truth from blowhards on right wing talk radio. You'll repeat anything they tell you. And since you don't respect anyone who disagrees with you - even the scientists, who have more intelligence in their toenails than you have in your brain - and have spent years cultivating the dubious art of willful ignorance, an intelligent discussion with you would be impossible.

But hey, at least I've given you a few words to look up in the dictionary. Not that you will.

You're right, global warming is real. It's an established fact that the earth has experienced both warming and cooling cycles for

millions of years. The Great Lakes were formed by a glacier, the Sahara Desert was once a tropical jungle. These warming and cooling cycles occurred long before humans appeared on earth. There's no reason to think these warming and cooling cycles won't continue. There's also no reason to think they are now caused by humans.

These established facts don't comport with zerO's leftist agenda which envisions a world run with windmills and solar panels. Once we elect a Republican president and Congress in 2016 all this loonyness will go away and we can begin to recover from this eight year nightmare.

Maybe the huge ice fields at the South Pole and in Iceland are clues that Al Gore was talking through his ass.

Stupid,

We've been over all of this repeatedly. The global warming that is happening now is happening over decades, instead of over thousands of years, and it's happening because of high concentrations of carbon in the atmosphere, due mainly to fossil fuels. You ignore those critical factual differences. Your argument is like saying you're going to die anyway, so smoke ten packs a day and overeat yourself into weighing 700 pounds. You're going to die anyway, so who cares whether you die when you're forty, or when you're eighty. That's how stupid your argument is, only it's even worse than that because the billions of people who live today would not suffer from global warming at all if we hadn't caused the problem in our lifetimes. Furthermore, when global warming or cooling occurs over thousands of years, it allows people to adjust gradually, and avoid major short-term problems.

So if most of the crop land and the jungles all turn to desert, that's not a problem? That's what you're saying.

Just because change is natural doesn't mean that certain changes aren't disastrous. The sun will burn out eventually. When it does, everything living thing on Earth will die. By your "logic," we could nuke the entire planet and kill every living thing on earth, and it wouldn't matter because it's going to happen in a couple billion years anyway. Come on, even you're not that stupid.

"Last week I read a report" ... Was it on the Onion, your usual reference source?

You may lie but the facts do not. Here's a second set of graphs. And here is a third.

The reason scientists are telling us that global warming is real, and very dangerous is that it is. You keep lying, and we'll keep educating people with the facts.

Duh !! Your own graphs show the earth's temperature has only gone up 0.4 degrees in over 60 years. When you consider

the earths population increase in those 60+ years, I would say it's nothing to worry about. And it certainly hasn't effected the South Pole ice field or the Iceland ice buildup. Al Gore lives in a McMansion and flies around in a private jet, so he's clearly not worrying about mega watts or air pollution, you need to lay off the Kool-Aid, the sky's not falling.

You would say that but only because you're an ignorant sheeple who believes whatever your talking heads tell you to think. And they're not my graphs. Those are the data, the facts. Look at it again before drawing uninformed conclusions. Meanwhile, the ice caps are shrinking at measurable rates, climates are changing all over the world and human populations are threatened with rapid changes that will cause severe disruptions. Just because it isn't all linked in a single post doesn't mean it went away.

Once again, the charts that YOU posted show an increase of 0.4 degrees in 60 years. The sky is not falling. Wise up Dummy.

Stupid,

You don't understand what you're reading, and you're not being honest. As usual, on both counts. The chart you're referring to measures temperature in centigrade, so you have to multiply by 1.8 to convert to the increase in Farenheit. Furthermore, looking back to 1860, around the start of the Industrial Revolution, Earth's temperature has warmed 2 degrees Farenheit since then. As a climate scientist could explain to you, that difference is huge. It's the reason the polar ice caps are melting - not uniformly but worldwide and at an alarming rate. Projecting that increase out over the next few centuries, Earth will see a ten-degree rise in temperature (Farenheit) well within this millennium, which will melt all the ice caps and make much of the planet uninhabitable. The disruptions will be catastrophic. In other words, we are destroying in a few centuries what nature took billions of years to create. And that's too conservative an estimate because if you gave a damn and looked honestly at the graph, you would see temperatures rising exponentially. In other words, the rate of increase is accelerating.

To simplify this for your little right wing pea-brain, you don't have the chops to argue with the scientists, virtually all of whom disagree with you.

Ho-Hum, let me know if you ever get off the Kool-Aid. You're too confused to ever have an intelligent discussion.

I understand just fine. You're an idiot.

  • You failed to convert from centigrade to farenheit.
  • You ignored 100 years worth of data.
  • You ignored the geometric progression in the climate warming trends.
  • You ignored what these facts mean for the future.
  • You ignored the broad geological context.

You're not fooling anyone. You're a right wing sheeple who denies climate change and global warming despite the scientific consensus and the mountains of data on which it rests.
