Is the Mayor for real, this is his quote in the Kearny Journal regarding Phil Martone:

"To enlist other employees to create a fabricated story, to try to slander and have someone else fired, that's a serious offense," Santos said. "And to use other town employees to do so, that's a serious offense."

If the Business Administrator cannot clear the record as to whether he was a POW or was not, or that he ever insinuated that he was a POW when he wasn't, I'd fire the Business Administrator and keep the Recreation Director. Both D'Arco and the Mayor are big babies. I would have settled it man to man and be done with it. The Mayor and D'Arco simply do not like anyone who says "No, I disagree with you." They simply want you to kiss their butts with "Yes, your the greatest you are right." That is terrible government where your department heads fear telling you the truth.

Now my tax dollars are going to pay for an appeal? What a big waste of money and a detriment to the kids in town. How much did the lawyer make on this case? Deduct that from D'Arco's salary.

All town workers know the real story. Who was it who said Phil was trying to get D'Arco fired? Who made up that story? I heard Martone was just trying to make D'Arco look bad. But someone got D'Arco all worked up that Martone was trying to get him fired. Then the whole thing changed. D'Arco worked his butt off to get Phil fired at any cost. The real person responsible for this whole mess is not Phil Martone or Joe D'Arco. Its the person who made up the story that Martone was working to get D'Arco fired. The person who committed perjury by lying under oath. That's who the real criminal is. Why don't they go after her. Her husband's not the judge yet.

The bottom line is that if Martone hadn't started his childish games again, nothing would have happened. He has always been a pot stirring trouble maker. You just don't mess with someones military history.

And yet we all miss the point. D'Arco was hired to SAVE money. In addition to all the other litigation he has brought to the town (re: claims of harassment, prolonged negotiations and such), now we will spend money to APPEAL a decision to protect his name. You lost in court, let him have his job back, and move on.

Otherwise, as taxpayers, we are paying for something that was already decided. Mr. D'Arco ; DO YOUR JOB, AND SAVE THE TAXPAYERS SOME MONEY! Otherwise, it goes to the attorneys. Let's keep this cash in the town's coffers . . . . . . for once!!!!!

good point. everything should be looked at in terms of higher taxes. does d'arco save tax money or waste tax money? if d'arco's punishemtn for martone (fired) was too severe he cost us all that tax money. where has he saved the town any money? he's just the mayor's hit man. and people thought vartan/czech was a dangerous combo!
