A superintendent of any school gets all of the information together and has a plan 1st, and then presents that plan to the Board for their approval or disapproval. That's how its done. THE BUDGET INCREASE WAS TO COVER 2.2 MILLION IN ADDITIONAL SPENDING FOR SALARIES. PROGRAMS WERE CUT, ACTIVITIES CUT, ETC., BUT NOT SALARIES FOR TEACHERS AND ADMINISTRATORS.

NOW, IN THEIR OWN WORDS, IF THE GOVERNOR PASSES A BILL THAT LIMITS THE AMOUNT OF "MONEY" TEACHERS AND ADMINISTRATORS CAN LEAVE WITH, THEY ARE ALL LEAVING NOW!!!!!!

IT IS NEVER ABOUT THE KIDS, IT'S ALWAYS ABOUT HOW MUCH CAN THEY PUT AND/OR KEEP IN THEIR POCKETS!!!!!!

JUST WATCH, YOU WILL SEE WHO DOES THIS FOR THE LOVE OF THEIR JOB AND THE "CHILDREN" AND WHO IS IN IT FOR THE MONEY!!!!

To alleviate your mind, then review the facts. Yes, at Franklin there's overcrowding. But the Kearny school district's student to teacher ratio is very low at 13 students for every 1 teacher. (Dept of Education for 2009-10). There are multiple classes at Roosevelt and Washington with just 12 or 13 students. I don't now how Asst Superintendent Sprague put up with that burden while principal at Franklin.

Because of the imbalance, there's a school districting problem. HOWEVER, the Kearny school district is far from capacity.

A 13 to 1 ratio is misleading. That number would include, for example, (1) a class of 25 students, (2) their classroom teacher, (3) their gym teacher, (4) their music teacher, (5) their librarian, (6) their health teacher. That is a 5:1 ratio, but not a true indication of class size. Overall, in Kearny we have 1 teacher to every 13 students (or so.) That is not indicative of class sizes.
