Guest Smitty
Did anyone read The Observer article yet? Nice job by our local paper, this is what we need. The thing that struck me most was Digesere sounds most like a politician. It does not come across that he cares about our students one bit. He is more concerned about covering his own a$$. Is this what we get for all that money? Kearny needs a serious re-organization of it's Administration, starting wiith the central offices at the BOE and definitely into the High School. It will start with these elections. Please, make sure u get out and vote; also vote down the budget so we can stop this excessive spending

Anyone at the Observer bother to check what the new requirements exactly are for 7th and 8th grades are or are you just going to take Digesere's explanation without checking? Anyone at the Observer bother to ask what meetings have been held on a middle school with members of the Board of Education? Anyone at the Observer bother to ask about whether the new school budget will include money to plan for a middle school? Anyone at the Observer bother to research whether the middle school model produces better results than traditional 1st to 8th grade schools? Guest Guest
This article explains a lot, and it is good people are starting to see the real inner workings of this deceitful Board of Education. The real shame is how many kids these people have hurt, and how the School system has become a joke.

It's over $70 million in spending. Do you think the Observer will: a) just print the superintendent's spin? get a copy of the budget, read it, ask questions and publish an analysis? c) do a one paragraph blurb and call that a story? d) fill their space by copying and pasting a Congressman's rant against health care reforms? Guest Burst Your Bubble
I would like an option (e), for all of the above. Not in a million years does anyone at the Observer have the ability to do an analysis of a budget. The answer is ©, one paragraph with the bare minimum of information disguised as a story. Then there'll be some inane editorial page about alternative herbal medicine from the publisher and some more of the bizarre Republican diatribes against health care legislation that are lifted verbatim by the Observer's "writer" from the Congressional Record. I know it's a strange operation, but shouldn't there be one Tin Man and one Lion at the Observer? Three Scarecrows is downright scary. DiGesere's budget has a $2 million dollar tax increase, which means homeowners in the Manor and Schuyler School areas will see increases of about $300 a year. With people losing jobs and under water on their mortgages, that's outrageous. Does anyone read a newspaper at the Board of Ed?

Do the math? There WILL NOT be a $300 tax increase.
Guest Kearny Math Expert
Did you read the same notice that was printed in the Jersey Journal? Do the math? There WILL NOT be a $300 tax increase. Yes, I did the math. The number the Superintendent gave the newspaper is wrong. His tax number is for only 6 months, so multiply it by two. And use an average house in the Manor or Schuyler School area which is already paying about $10,000 a year. Bottom line: most will go up over $300 for the school year. If so, maybe the board should have his contract recinded! We do not need our superintendant lying to the people of kearny. Once a liar always a liar ! BRIDGEWATER -- The Bridgewater-Raritan Board of Education adopted a budget that would lay-off nearly 70 teachers and raise taxes today, but last minute concessions from the local teachers’ union saved more than a dozen jobs and restored funding to sports and extracurricular programs. Guest Guest
What was the answer? The answer was: The BOE did not discuss a middle school. The superintendent did ask for approval on redistricting because of the unbalanced number of students at individual schools. Miss Donna and Mr. Digerese obviously have had a previous conversation that didn't go well. Mr. Digeresre did say that with the condition of the state, there isn't any money, and the only people who would suffer from not having a middle school would be the students because in 2014 the state standards are set to change. DIGESERE. Did he forget about the comment he made to MISS DONNA, the MIDDLE SCHOOL IS ETCHED IN STONE! He talks so much crap He forgets what He says. He`s just waiting for his cronies to be re-elected so he can bring up the middle school again.

That`s a lie, the BOE was talking middle school for the last 4 months. Yes, redistricting is definitely needed in our town.MISS DONNA DOES NOT LIE ,ASK ANYONE WHO KNOWS HER. MR. DIGESERE is right with the condition of the state, there isn`t any money, that`s why we must tighten our belts.IF redistricting with-in our schools is done no will suffer. Why can`t our kids be prepped within our current elementary schools. The BOE complaining no money but yet we have 3 vp`s in our high school,go figure. Conversion of Franklin School to a Middle School is and remains the Superintendent's plan. Anything else is being said to get through the April 20 Board election. No money? Really?? Then why is the Kearny school district going ahead with the contract to buy a building for school administrators on Midland Avenue from the Christian Church that moved to Sacred Heart? That opens up space at Franklin School, which is part of the plan for the Middle School.
