NY Slimes demise

The front page of the NY Slimes today headlined Sarah Palin's clothing. The Slimes is looking more and more like the Enquirer or the Star. The Slimes is near bankruptcy and these moronic articles will only hasten their demise. The fact that the clothes were donated and will be given to charity after the election, was of course not mentioned. "All the slime that fits, we print".

Unfortunately for you, a lot of people do care about this particular case of putting lipstick on a pig. $150,000 is a hell of a lot of money to spend on clothes, hairdo's, and such. It's typical Rethug wild excess; I doubt anybody would have said much of anything if they'd spent, say, $15,000 dollars . . . or avoided having Willow photographed with the Fendi bag (or whatever it was outrageously expensive brand it was; not my field of expertise).

We could only wish they'd spent a few dollars on prettying up her intellect as much as they did her exterior. That poor woman is beyond ignorant

You'll be pleased to know the NY "Slimes" stock has been downgraded to "junk" status. Advertising revenues are down 15% this quarter and they are heavily in debt. It wouldn't surprise anyone if they went into bankruptcy. Their far left agenda has hurt them and I find it incredible that they continue on that distructive course dispite where that agenda is leading them.

The republican party has also been downgraded to "junk status" . The initial press release on Spiro Palin's "wardrobe to nowhere" came from the the republican national committee. Slime indeed.

$150,000 from Saks Fifth Avenua and Neiman Marcus when she's touting "Joe the Plumber"?? $30,000 for one month's makeup and hairdo's?? John Edwards's haircut was run over and over and that was peanuts by comparison, just $400! By the way, the "charitable donation" is only being done so she doesn't have to report $150,000 in income on her personal 1040 in April; it's a self-interested tax maneuver, so appearance-wise, it only makes matters worse!

The Republican ship is taken on so much water, there'll be but a handful of survivors. When the right can't defend their policies, they always fall back on criticizing the "liberal media." They contort themselves in order to use the "liberal media's" critical stories on Democrats (see, for example, the ACORN story printed by the Times or the Schumer scandal), but scream 'not fair' when the right is the subject of a critical story in the NY Times.

Well, well, it turns out that "joe the plumber" is just a schtick by the elitist McCain (7 houses) and Palin (Saks/Neiman Marcus). The ship is sinking fast! So much that, McCain's own campaign manager is now criticizing Palin. LOL!

Hey, 2smart, which newspaper in America has the largest Sunday circulation?

Which newspaper has the third largest weekday circulation?

Which on-line web site of a newspaper generates the most revenue?

The answer to all of the above is The New York Times.

Get your head out of the sand. The Times is a shell of what it used to be. It's stock prices are way down, circulation is down, they've laid off over 200 people this past year. Unless they can somehow turn it around they'll be bankrupt in 2 years. The reason for this is their far left agenda, the same reason MSNBC and CNN are losing viewership. In the prime 8pm time slot Fox News has more viewers than CNN and MSNBC combined.

No, the reason is that newspapers in general are having trouble, except for the tabloids. You can read the New York Times online. The Christian Science Monitor just went under. This is industry-wide.

Actually, Fox is no longer ahead in that time slot. It has Bill O'Reilly calling for federal investigations - he's nuts.

I don't know why you're proud of right wing TV and radio. You can base your political behavior on ignorance and bigotry, but sooner or later that will catch up with us all.

Youre statement is ridiculous.

Stock prices are down all over, newspaper circulation has gone down all over and many blue chip companies are laying off.

The NY Times has done much better than the right wing rags such as the NY Post (Murdoch has to subsidize it) or the now defunct NY Sun.

You're missing the point. The New York Times, the world's greatest newspaper may go out of business. That would be a tragedy, but it wouldn't be the first tragedy in human history, or the first time the masses didn't do what was best. It's no secret that most people don't read the Times. That doesn't mean that they are wise.

It gets even more amazing:

A Republican donor who agreed to foot a majority of the expenses was stunned when he received the bill, Newsweek reported. Both the Times and Newsweek report that the budget for the clothing was expected to be between $20,000 and $25,000. Instead, the amount reported by the Republican National Committee was $150,000.

That wasn't the whole tab, however, according to Newsweek. The magazine claims that Palin leaned on some low-level staffers to put thousands of dollars of additional purchases on their credit cards. The national committee and McCain became aware of the extra expenditures, including clothes for husband Todd Palin, when the staffers sought reimbursement, Newsweek reported.

There is one comment in particular from a McCain aide that guaranteed to heighten friction between the two camps. The angry aide described the Palin family shopping spree to Newsweek as "Wasilla hillbillies looting Neiman Marcus from coast to coast."
