Bern
We won't be seeing an answer because it's true. The Clinton administration reached across the aisle. Bush and the neocons are like dictators. They're practicing the politics of division and hatred, along with their cheerleaders (Limbaugh, Coulter and other masters of verbal vomit) and their ditto-heads - wow, what a surprise. It worked enough to get Bush re-elected. The politics of hate. Bush, Coulter, et al - rattlers in a slimy bucket. Lincoln's quote "You can fool all the people some of the time, and some of the people all the time, but you cannot fool all the people all the time" certainly applies to that bunch. I guess in Lincoln's day they had the same slime creeping around. The all (majority) of the people some of the time phase has passed. We have gone through a very irresponsible phase in our country's political life. If we're going to continue to be a great nation, we're going to have to restore the spirit of civic and public responsibility that prevailed before the nation turned so far to the right. "So far to the right" ? Did anyone tell Congress ?
Guest Guest
"So far to the right" ? Did anyone tell Congress ? When anyone to the left of George W. Bush is considered a "radical leftist", yes, the country has shifted far to the right. Even centrists are accused of being "far left" in this country. Guest Guest
"So far to the right" ? Did anyone tell Congress ? Great comeback, moron. I'll explain it so even an idiot like you can understand. We are finally at the end of what many historians will call the Reagan era in American history. Reagan's central domestic policy argument was that government is the problem. This is a very popular sentiment, but it ignores the realities of life in the developed world in the 21st century. The attitude behind it has virtually crippled our politics for nearly thirty years. Now, with our country in desperate need for alternative energy sources and the financial markets in ruins as a result of deregulation, we are finally going to return to an era of more balanced and responsible government - if we choose our leaders wisely. As for Congress, it remains cowed by the radical right. The solution is not to vote Republicans back into office, but to show them the door and force the Republican party to rebuild itself in a way that restores its role as a force of moderation, not a force for extremism.
