Guest Really?
Come on up to arising. The time to change direction in Kearny is NOW!!

You'll have to pull the bag off of your head first. It's not so easy to take pot shots when everyone knows who you are.

My guess is that you'll keep the bag on your head. Hey, whatever happened to your Recall Mayor Santos petition?

Its time we end the "SANTAX" that have forced many long time residents to move out of Kearny, and prepare for changing direction with leaders that are willing to make decisions, rather than ask the public to weigh in to give direction on the tax issue. This is what he was elected to do, and finally after 7 years as Mayor he has asked the public for their input. What window dressing!! Just like a lawyer!!

No more 'SHELL GAMES with TAXPAYERS. Time to rid ourselves of this FAILURE for a Mayor. Change is needed NOW!!!!!

What shell game? You made an accusation. Now back it up.

You'll never answer that question. You can't. There is no shell game. It's just the same few loudmouths dominating this forum and not saying anything.

Time to end the one party system in Kearny. No more shuffling the deck chairs on the Titanic. Before this ship (KEARNY) sinks we must make change now. Leadbeater will get this ship headed in the right direction. Give him a chance.

A one party system in Kearny??? Two parties exist. It's just a shame that the Republican party NEVER has any viable candidates. I find your comparison of Kearny with the Titanic interesting. I think that you made the right point but it was for the wrong reason. If John "will get this ship headed in the right direction" because he is steering "this ship", just remember that the Titanic SANK!!!! Good comparison. It's explains John's "direction" COMPLETELY!!! I'm voting for SANTOS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Kearny is not sinking. Thanks to Mayor Santos and the Council, we have a $5 million surplus while similar communities around us are in financial trouble.

We would be foolish to vote out a good mayor and vote in someone whose last time in town government brought nothing but trouble. Leadbeater had his chance fifteen years ago. He showed us that we should not give him another one.

Where do you get this stuff. If Leadbeater were a democrat he would still be in office. He ALWAYS did what he thought was right, regardless of party affliation. What has Santos done other than get himself a nice county job?

He has governed Kearny without a lot of drama and fuss, without a hint of scandal. He is a professional who knows what he is doing. We're lucky to have someone of his intelligence willing to take the job.

WATCHOUT RESIDENTS OF KEARNY NEXT ON THE AGENDA SANTOS WILL WANT A SALARY TO RUN THE TOWN.

Please find a surrounding town that has not had a tax increase every year.

We are not talking about other towns, we're discussing Kearny. And wasn't lowering taxes part of his previous campaign promises?

In 10 years he has raised taxes, what 72% and municipal government grew from 25% of your tax rate to 36% of your tax rate; 11%.

Let's not divert attention from Kearny by bringing in other towns.

Were taxes decreasing or static before Santos took office? And have Kearny's taxes gone up significantly 'faster' than that of surrounding towns?

He's been making decisions all this time, and I've yet to see you or anyone else give valid ideas on how to do things differently to save the taxpayers money without having to sacrifice services. No matter who is mayor, taxes will not magically drop by themselves.

Also, don't forget that the ever-weakening dollar is another force making taxes rise over the past few years. We are all getting less bang for our buck nationwide, and therefore we need to pay more just to get the same results, much less anything additional.

Regardless of what you say, fact is no one's beating a path to his door with money-saving ideas. Maybe, just maybe, lowering taxes as not so simple as you think?

A 72% increase in taxes and an 11% growth in municipal government goes far beyond an ever-weakening dollar. Perhaps it is more indecisiveness and mismanagment; 10 years of indecision and wavering.

He maintains an army of attorneys and accountants; his Department Heads are very well paid; his B.A. is extremely well compensated; and he is elected Mayor, so over 10 years, why would valid ideas have to be delivered to his door, what has his costly braintrust been bringing to the table? He should have devivered the goods to the people of Kearny in the form of lower taxes!

What a stupid response! Very often, the problems in a town are county- or state-wide. Neighboring towns serve as a comparison. If all the surrounding towns are having the same problem, it's probably not your mayor's fault.

We told you what Santos has done. We have a $5 million surplus. He hasn't made stupid decisions that got us in trouble like Leadbeater and Vartan did when they were in charge. He has made significant improvements in town. He has done a lot.

If Leadbeater were a Democrat, he would have run the town into the ground by now, the same as he will do if he gets elected. Don't forget, Pete McIntyre lasted only one term. Kearny isn't shy about voting people out of office. We have kept Santos because he has done a good job without a lot of theatrics or hysteria.

Why is it so hard for people to understand simple math? The services that we enjoy COST MONEY. From where (besides taxes) would you like to raise the money to pay for the services that we enjoy?

For all of the talk from candidates pledging to lower taxes, I have yet to hear one of them tell us exactly HOW they will do so WITHOUT cutting vital services. The problem is they can't win elections by telling people the truth, i.e., lower taxes will mean decreased services. People love to hear lower taxes but they never want to make the necessary trades in order to achieve the goal.

No one likes high taxes. But taxes are the price we pay for the services that we receive.

Why don't people get that?

My my all the Santonian's are out to protect there boy king. It's true the taxes have gone up each year he's held the office. You want idea's, Try this. Cut the legal costs and get rid of D'Arco all he does is cost the town money in legal judgements. If all those legal bills were gone what a pile of money the town would have. That's the truth. By the way there are towns that maintain lower taxes and keep them down with proper managment of the funds. Stop the bonding and deal with the tax issues.

Time to look into legal fees, Follow the money and who donates to SANTOS.
