I absolutely agree that this forum could be used for something more than complaining and back-stabbing. I'm no longer a resident of Harrison, but it'll always be home. Even moving out of state won't change that, but I searched out this web-site to try to keep in touch with whats happening in town, and all I see is dessension. How about trying to start a forum re:the "good old days" in Harrison. And believe me there where were many. Most of us were poor but it didn't matter because we were all in the same boat. We got along and went along. Think about it people.

You people on this web site are a disgrace. Some one died and you make jokes? No wonder this town will never get better then what it has now in office, the people below the higher ups are nothing but crude, uncompassionate degenerates. If this is all this web site has to offer then perhaps getting rid of the site is the best thing that could happen. Only cowards pick on the dead, and in this case there are alot of brain dead people who write on this site. Show some consideration for the family of this person, I am sure if something like this happened in your families you would be distraught to find these things being said about your loved one. The gracious thing to do if you don't like this person or there family would be to atleast respect there situation and say nothing.

You are absolutely right. It is a shame how some individuals show their ignorance by getting pleasure from other peoples tragedies.

:) OK lets try again if only to prove a point. How many visitors to this forum remember:1) Sat. night dances at Jacksons Auditorium and the Casino? 2) Ice skating at Frank E. Rodgers(JFK) stadium? 3) Playing ball on grass or dirt by the library?(never on the Harrison Ave. side only Fourth St.side) 4) The PAL on Tues. Fri, and Sat. nights? 5) Hamilton St. playground, where you went home filthy from the dark dirt that was supposed to be sand 6) The Peter Dolger Brewery that burned down(it was where the high school is now) and finally7) The old high school on Hamilton St.(it's now the middle school).

Good luck....have fun with this

Well thats a start. Good luck

How about the Tennis Court Dances on Friday nights...you paid a quarter to get in and everyone had a good time. The bands that would play in the Courts were made up of alot of our friends. After the dance everyone would go to DJ's for pizza (they made great pizza).

Father Jack and the CYO trips and dances.

Wiebolts (spelling)

All the soda fountains that used to thrive in the candy/paper stores and drug stores

I"m not familiar with Father Jack, but all the other postings certainly bring back memories. Thanks for participating. By the way that lot at President and Grant was the place where most of us played and learned soccer. The East Newark Boys Club and Entre Nous were the one's that come to mind. Sleigh riding on Sherman Ave. , tthe Warner , Meyers Soda Fountain. Cmon folks help me out here....LOL
