Being sympathetic to the ignorance of the LoonyLeft, I offer the following;

Put "Ann Coulter.com" in your favorite list and read every issue carefully.

Hopefully, before too long you'll notice an awakening in your brain, you will

begin to process information clearly and lose your taste for Kool-aid. Good luck !

I read Godless. It was as bad as reading one of Michael Moore's books, just in the other direction. The only difference is that she kisses more peoples' rears. Her chapters against evolution could be debunked by the average 10th grader.

I truly wish it was possible to talk to people like so called "Patriot" and Ann Coulter. They are our fellow citizens, and we need their contribution to keep our country on the right course or put it back on course when it's off track. The sad fact is that the radical right, exemplified by people like this, has become everything citizenship should not be. People like Coulter and so-called "Patriot" are not interested in facts, but only in their own extreme ideology, in which everyone to the left of Genghis Khan is a Loony Leftie with a peculiar taste for Kool-Aid. They live politically almost entirely on slogans like this. They don't think, they don't reason, they ignore all the facts that don't fit their ideology (which is most of the facts), and if you don't agree with them, they label you a Communist, a New Ager or whatever name they can think to call you, whether it has any basis in fact or not. They don't care that people who disagree with them are citizens, too, and are entitled to respect. They don't care that people who disagree with them just might have more than a few valid points to make, and a real contribution to make to their communities, their country and the world. They don't care that scientists have spent their lives developing new ideas, and applying them to such an extent that these new and developing sciences are proved to every enlightened mind on Earth. They don't care about anything except their own smugly self-satisfied little fantasy world, and in that world all but those who agree with them on every point are vanquished, beaten down or worse. It is the exact opposite of patriotism. It goes so far that they test the limits of being able even to respect them; about all we have left is to respect their right to have an opinion, because nothing in posts like so-called "Patriot's," not only in starting this topic, but throughout KOTW, merits any deeper kind of respect. It isn't just a matter of holding different opinions; it's the way they attack everybody and the way they completely ignore the facts. It is truly sad, and a blow to our life together as members of one republic, but as long as these people confuse attacking everyone who disagrees with their radical ideology, with patriotism, there's no talking to people like this.

Which flavor of Kool-Aid do you like Ann to serve you?

The term Kool-Aid drinker does not only apply to who you say it applies to. If you fanatically follow either the left or the right you could be viewed as a Kool-Aid drinker.

Do you even know the origin of the term?

I agree, we speak different languages. Ann Coulter (and the rest of us "right wingers") speak clearly and "tell it like it is". Republicans believe in taking responsibility for your own actions, we believe in less government and less tax, we believe in a strong military and self reliance. The LoonyLeft, on the other hand, believes in more government; open borders, free health care and free tuition for illegal aliens. They (you) believes the U.S. should become a socialist state, a nanny state where the government takes care of you from cradle to grave (and takes most of your paycheck to pay for it). The LoonyLeft would love to ban God

and create a godless socialist society. Fortunately, the Defeatocratic Party is losing popularity. The american public is becoming more politically astute and recognizing how outdated and dangerous the LoonyLeft mentality has become.

While I agree with the sentiment, there are those who feel that anyone to the left of Michael Moore is a fascist pig as well. The problem isn't with the right, it is the increasing polarization of both camps. Both extremes see the other as absolutely wrong and even evil. The fact is, both sides have valid points.

No serious person pays any attention to Coulter, other than to deplore her complete lack of integrity.

I've only read the chapter on evolution in Godless. She's clueless about biology, but she certainly knows how to push the anti-science crowd's buttons.

She's a media whore, pure and simple. Sadly, I'm not surprised that PatRat thinks she's a towering intellect. He's certainly a member of her target demographic -- ignorant, arrogant, and ripe for manipulation.

Let's take a look at some of Ann Coulter's quotes.

June 25, 1999 On Rep. Christopher Shays (D-CT) in deciding whether to run against him as a Libertarian candidate: "I really want to hurt him. I want him to feel pain."

February 2002 "We need to execute people like John Walker in order to physically intimidate liberals, by making them realize that they can be killed too. Otherwise they will turn out to be outright traitors."

August 21, 2002 "My only regret with Timothy McVeigh is he did not go to the New York Times Building."

Someone who wants people to be killed. Someone who wants a building to explode in New York City because of political feelings. Someone who wants to execute people to scare others from speaking out. Someone who wants a person to feel pain, and wants to be the cause of that pain.

How sick does a person have to be to think that mass-murder is ok? How sick does a person have to be to think that execution is an acceptable action to keep others "in line?" How sick does a person have to be to wish a terror attack on people? How sick does a person have to be to want other people to feel pain because they disagree?

I do not believe that a patriot, as you call yourself, wishes these kinds of things on people. She is a person who probably feels that it is ok to invade another country, kill it's leaders and covert it's people to Christianity. I believe that somebody who uses fear and murder as a tool to reach political goals is by definition, a terrorist.

There is of course another way of looking at these comments. I have heard people say that she doesn't really mean what she is saying. She is just making jokes.

Jokes? How are mass-murder, terror and pain supposed to be funny?

Well, I have noticed an awakening in my brain and I am processing things clearly. However, I don't think that the awakening was the same kind as you were expecting. After reading your post and Ann Coulter's quotes, I am not sure about my taste for Kool-Aid, but I have certainly lost my appetite.

Perhaps after reading my post, you will notice an awakening in your brain. Perhaps you will see that execution of fellow Americans is not funny. Perhaps you will see that terrorism is not funny.

Or, perhaps everything that I am saying to you is fueling your anger toward people like me. Perhaps you feel that people like me, maybe even I personally, should be executed.

I have learned throughout my life and especially in my Junior year in High School that people can be cruel. They can make fun of you, they can accuse you of doing things you have never done, they can shout at you, they can try to make your life miserable, they can even make threats on your life. There is one thing they cannot do. They cannot take away your humanity. You can only do that to yourself.

If you right wingers believed in personal responsibility,

1. You wouldn't constantly lie to win elections.

2. Your candidates wouldn't duck real debates, insisting instead on phony joint appearances that don't allow real exploration of issues.

3. You wouldn't have offered a dry drunk for president.

4. You wouldn't have squandered the budget surplus to give tax breaks to the rich.

5. You would recognize that the highly developed countries all over the world have universal health care, and that as a result their people have better health than our people do.

6. You would know the difference between a strong military and a military stance bent on world domination.

7. You would understand that the immigration problem cuts across ideological lines.

8. You would understand that a complex economy requires a mixed economy with both capitalist and socialist elements.

9. You wouldn't do everything you could to tear down environmental protection and leave the environment at the mercy of corporate interests.

10. You would fund the educational programs you claim to support.

11. You would respect the fact that not everyone shares your concept of God, and stop trying to force your concept of God on everyone.

12. You would recognize the problems of inherited wealth, especially in a society supposedly based on merit, and stop calling the estate tax the "death tax."

13. You would understand the problems that follow from excessive concentrations of wealth (the historical record is clear on this) and stop redistibuting wealth toward the super-rich every time your people gain power.

14. You would understand that government, while often inefficient, is also necessary in a society as advanced and as complex as ours.

15. Chicken hawks like Bush and Cheney, and their kids, would have fought in the wars they have supported. Where's the personal responsibility in supporting a war because it's necessary to preserve our civilization, and then running and hiding so you don't have to fight in it - let someone else's kids do it. Where's the personal responsibility in that? Say whatever you want about Kerry, at least he was on the boat!

You right wingers hardly ever tell the truth. Limbaugh, Coulter, Rove, Bush, Cheney, et. al., are the biggest liars on the planet. There were no WMDs, global warming is a reality, the disastrous effects of the Bush tax cuts were entirely predictable, etc. The whole premise behind what Bush calls "faith-based" thinking is that you don't have to be concerned with the facts. Do you even listen to what your own ideological leaders are saying? Or are you so filled with venom for people who don't agree with you that you think you can say anything and it thereby becomes fact? Your little world may work that way, but the real world does not. If you'd stop mentally hyperventilating, you'd see that the real world is more complicated than your little fantasy world, which is fast losing favor with the American people, and lost favor long ago with the rest of the world.

With all due respect, I don't think so. If you put Ann Coulter or Rush Limbaugh or Karl Rove or George W. Bush or Dick Cheney up as the standard for me to comment on, you'll see some pretty strong language because these people are so far outside the bounds of all reason or any sense of compassion for all Americans that I think they've forfeited any claim to respect on the merits. If you put up specific issues, you'll see something very different. One of the reasons Democrats haven't been winning elections is that they're not strong enough, they mince words. I don't, and I'm prepared to defend what I write. Be specific in your criticisms, please.

As to Michael Moore, I found his early films unreasonable. Farenheit 911 was in my view pretty solid - let's be honest, the real criticism was that he was challenging what many people wanted to believe, and since he had it on film it couldn't be denied. (Imagine any previous president getting away with making a joke about there being no WMDs under the sofa!) Nothing makes people more angry than being caught red-handed and having no way to deny the truth. (I've seen that game before.) Haven't seen Sicko yet, but the reviews say it's his best and most accurate work yet. So while I might not want Moore in a position of high authority, he serves the important function of cultural critic, which of course authoritarian right wingers absolutely detest. That's why people don't like him.

People can even try to destroy your career and ruin your life just to prove a pouint by secretly recording you.

I suggest that you should be very careful in the future. Measure every word that you say and every action you take because someone may be out there just waiting to trip you up. Very few people, except maybe you, Paul, and Strife, can live up to your standards.

I'm not smart enough to prove whether or not God exists, but I've learned that kharma can be a B**ch.

Kearny's resident specialist on taking quotations out of context weighs in ...

Let's take a look at some of Ann Coulter's quotes.

June 25, 1999 On Rep. Christopher Shays (D-CT) in deciding whether to run against him as a Libertarian candidate: "I really want to hurt him. I want him to feel pain."

This one's in context. Coulter wants to cause Shays pain by possibly running against him in politics. Most of our politicians are apparently torturers in young LaClair's book. Next we'll see data from psychological journals about the continued mental trauma of persons forced to run against others for political office. Even now, the United States is trying to inflict this type of torture on Iraqis by encouraging free elections.

February 2002 "We need to execute people like John Walker in order to physically intimidate liberals, by making them realize that they can be killed too. Otherwise they will turn out to be outright traitors."

With a bit of added context:

"When contemplating college liberals, you really regret once again that John Walker is not getting the death penalty. We need to execute people like John Walker in order to physically intimidate liberals, by making them realize that they can be killed too. Otherwise they will turn into outright traitors."

http://www.qando.net/details.aspx?Entry=1235

John Walker was a traitor planning to kill Americans. Coulter compared Walker's thinking to that of anti-American liberals on college campuses.

What's young LaClair's problem with that? Free speech for violent conspirators?

August 21, 2002 "My only regret with Timothy McVeigh is he did not go to the New York Times Building."

Obvious hyperbole.

Someone who wants people to be killed. Someone who wants a building to explode in New York City because of political feelings. Someone who wants to execute people to scare others from speaking out. Someone who wants a person to feel pain, and wants to be the cause of that pain.

Another LaClair who apparently enjoys taking comments out-of-context and then slandering the one who made them.

Brought up as a knee-jerk liberal at daddy's knee, evidently.

How sick does a person have to be to think that mass-murder is ok?

How sick does somebody need to be to take obvious hyperbole literally?

How sick does a person have to be to think that execution is an acceptable action to keep others "in line?"

Leaving aside the fact that the man in question was a traitor plotting the deaths of others, I suppose?

How sick does a person have to be to wish a terror attack on people? How sick does a person have to be to want other people to feel pain because they disagree?

Matthew exhibits considerable endurance in pressing his illegitimate ad hominem attack. But it's getting a bit boring.

I do not believe that a patriot, as you call yourself, wishes these kinds of things on people. She is a person who probably feels that it is ok to invade another country, kill it's leaders and covert it's people to Christianity.

(hyperbole)

I believe that somebody who uses fear and murder as a tool to reach political goals is by definition, a terrorist.

Matthew's daddy uses fear to accomplish political goals, and I'd estimate that he and Coulter have murdered approximately the same number of people.

There is of course another way of looking at these comments. I have heard people say that she doesn't really mean what she is saying. She is just making jokes.

Jokes? How are mass-murder, terror and pain supposed to be funny?

It's called hyperbole. You're supposed to be an advanced student, so I'd expect you to know about it by now. It's not a joke. It's exaggeration for emphasis.

Well, I have noticed an awakening in my brain and I am processing things clearly. However, I don't think that the awakening was the same kind as you were expecting. After reading your post and Ann Coulter's quotes, I am not sure about my taste for Kool-Aid, but I have certainly lost my appetite.

I'm surprised. All that work at creating straw men out of Coulter quotations must have made you hungry.

Or, perhaps everything that I am saying to you is fueling your anger toward people like me. Perhaps you feel that people like me, maybe even I personally, should be executed.

You should be confronted with your mistakes, IMHO.

Did you dad explain to you how your conception of the Big Bang is not that currently taught in science?

I have learned throughout my life and especially in my Junior year in High School that people can be cruel. They can make fun of you, they can accuse you of doing things you have never done, they can shout at you, they can try to make your life miserable, they can even make threats on your life. There is one thing they cannot do. They cannot take away your humanity. You can only do that to yourself.

Paul, explain to your kid that our common humanity is universal. ;)

Oh please. The government has increased in size more under Bush than under any other president except for the New Deal. You could actually GO TO THEIR WEBSITES to get the Democrat's actual positions on immigration, but you'd rather just make up lies. Responsibility? Yeah, right. This is the worst pass-the-buck president ever.

Same challenge as to 2Dim then-find one post in which I promote a Leftist position. The fact that you call anyone who disagrees with you a leftist only proves that it is you that is drinking the Kool-Aid.

Can't answer my challenge? Well I'm shocked. ;)

I wish the Democrats backed a godless society. I'd become a democrat.

Ever think of actually checking to see what the candidates want to do about immigration?

Obama:

http://www.barackobama.com/issues/immigrat...and_the_border/

Let's see-need more agents, prosecute those who hire illegals, guest worker program, easier citizenship for immigrants willing to fight for the US. Nothing about open borders or free tuition.

I bet Hillary wants those things though! She's EXTRA EVIL!

http://clinton.senate.gov/issues/immigration/

Maybe not. Ooh look! She backed the Immigrant Children's Health Improvement Act! Except that it is for legal immigrants. Oopsie. Proof: http://thomas.loc.gov/cgi-bin/bdquery/z?d108:s.00845: (too bad you can't do that eh, Patriot? Could it be because you just make shit up?) Oh but wait! She backed the DREAM Act to pay for tuition! Ah, but look at the actual summary: http://thomas.loc.gov/cgi-bin/bdquery/z?d1...5:@@@L&summ2=m& Too bad-wrong again, Patriot.

Giuliani: Hard to find his position. Here's some quotes and facts: http://www.ontheissues.org/2008/Rudy_Giuli...Immigration.htm

Hm-your boy is more liberal than Obama on the issue! How about that!

The funniest thing is that the only terrorist known to have illegally come into the country came in from Canada! Where's the push to close that border? Glenn Beck has pointed out that there are towns on the Canadian border that literally rely on the honor system to track entry to the country!

Less government? I don't think so: http://www.washingtonpost.com/wp-dyn/conte...6100501782.html

In many religions Karma is the concept that what you do in this life will determine your next life or existence.

In our culture, we usually mean payback or a measure of justice applied magically. With us this belief is prevalent with the simple and helpless. They are miserable and can't take care of their own problems, so they wait for Karmic relief to balance the scales of justice. So many in misery wait their whole lives for Karma to smite their enemies or improve their lot in life.

When they see someone evil get it they'll say "aha, karma". But in real life this rarely happens. A lot of evil people, including well known dictators live to an ripe old age in comfort. And a lot of good innocent people suffer incessantly.

But then they always have the fall back of the ultimate Karmic event, judgement by God.

Happy waiting.

This is in response to post #17 for Bryan.

You seem to think that those Ann Coulter quotes were ok. Let me take the three and change around a few words. Let us assume that instead of Ann Coulter, the following things were said by Michael Moore.

Deciding whether to run against George W. Bush as a Libertarian candidate: "I really want to hurt him. I want him to feel pain."

"We need to execute people like John Walker in order to physically intimidate conservatives, by making them realize that they can be killed too. Otherwise they will turn out to be outright traitors."

"My only regret with Timothy McVeigh is he did not go to the Fox News Building."

Do you find these comments offensive? Think it over and tell me what you think.

This time Bryan, can we just have a conversation about this without sounding mean? I will be much more willing to discuss these topics with you if you are respectful.

Being sympathetic to the ignorance of the LoonyLeft, I offer the following;

Put  "Ann Coulter.com" in your favorite list and read every issue carefully.

Hopefully, before too long you'll notice an awakening in your brain, you will

begin to process information clearly and lose your taste for Kool-aid. Good luck !

Are you smoking dope or are you just a natural dope? IMWTK
