Ok, first of all cheerleading is considered a sport and schools (unlike Harrison) help their students optain cheerleading scholarships to accredited schools.  Anyone can pick up a bat and play baseball, anyone can pick up a basketball and play basketball,  those individuals may not be great at the sport but they can do it.  NOT EVERYONE has the coordination and gymnastic skills it takes to be a cheerleader so stop knocking these kids who work their hearts out.

Now on to the topic of them competing against only 2 teams.  Competitions are selected according to where the squard fits in be it small varsity, large varsity or whatever.  If you want to throw stones try picking the girls basketball team, we all know Rog picks the teams they compete against according to their record which the majority of the time is teams who are in a much lower bracket then his girls!

why pick on anyone? at least these kids are trying. showing school spirit and getting off the streets. whether it is cheering, baseball, bowling etc... who cares? at least they have enough self esteem and commitment to participate.

This si true I have a friend who s daughter played for Harrison high basketball, Rodge made it seem as if She was Great. Well when She went to college and played on the College team She was told how lousy a player She was...Needless to say She drop out of the college......I dont see any of these girls being as great as he makes them out to be ...But I give Him a little credit for building up their confidence in themselves......

When I started this topic I didn't intend for it to become a cheerleading bashing session.  Shame on you if you are an adult with such hang-ups where the cheerleaders are concerned...what couldn't make the team when you were younger???

As the parent of a cheerleader I am proud of my child, her team and the coaches for all that they do.  If you have children you should consider yourself lucky if they get involved in this program for one thing it keeps them off the streets, practices are frequent and long so when they got home they are too tired to go and hang out, then there are the competitions that mostly take place during the weekend where they are either out of town or too tired when they get home from a local competition to be a nuisanse around town.

And to the person who must have used bad language when asking how the team captain is chosen...are you a pedofile (in case you aren't familiar with the word it's

an adult who is sexually attracted to a child or children)?  I know there are many of you scattered around this town, so keep looking at your kiddie porn and I'm sure the Feds will catch up to you.

I beg of all of you..please don't let this post be a personal attack on these girls we as parents are doing the best we can to bring our children up to be respectful young ladies with the chance of cutting loose from this town.

I agree with You ...Leave these girls alone ...I think they do a great job and are a joy to watch...I used to love going to the competitions and watch My Daughter....And Thank God She did Break loose from this town and is much better for it...I cant wait to get the hell out of here ...SOON Real soon

I guess it was rodge's fault she dropped out of college. It 's a big world out there.Maybe you should give him a little credit for getting your daughter into college. He's put more kids into college than anyone in that place or at least helped than get in.Many more than the guidance dept.Just one day compare what he's done with his players after there done with basketball and compare it with one of the coaches thats a guidance counselor. I played and believe me he more than prepared us with what we were going to face when we left high school. He opens the door for his players .they have to walk through it.Talk to the ones who didn't quit.Better yet talk to the coach who told your daughter she was a lousy player.

Are you on crack?first of all what does the coach have to do with someone dropping out of college? If you know anything about coach Rodgers the last thing he's ever being accused of is telling someone how great they are ,but he does get them into college. The cheerleadinfg coach should do half the job he does in getting kids into schools. In regards to scheduling easy teams There are 18 to 20 games scheduled by the league. There are only a small number of games that coaches get to choose. You cheerleading folk who down grade everyone to make yourselves look important are sad .First it was other teams now it's individuals.

YOU ARE SAD,SAD SAD

Who are you kidding how many times did Harrison cheerleaders go to nationals and compete against themselves. And dont give me the bullsh*t that they have to go to a national that fits their division every national has ever division from pee-wee level to all stars and you are well aware of the teams you compete against before you get to the competition so dont act like you just show up and find out that your the only one in your division. So before you start throwing names in about picking and choosing take a little time to sit and listen to the facts. Also you could teach anyone to be a cheerleader the same way you would just pick up a bat or a basketball but it takes a hell of alot of hard work and determination in ANY sport to be great.

Oh believe me if your friends daughter was told by a college coach what a lousy player she was than she would have hear the same from rodg. There is no way that rodg would tell somebody they were great if they we not he's definitly not one for beating around the bush. Any college coach is more than pleased with any one of rodg's players

How many of the 1000 point scorers--boys and girls-- since say 1980 -actually graduated college?

An honest question--just curious.

That is a really good question. Rodge and the other coaches can open the door to the colleges. They can get these kids in but succeeding and making the most of the opportunity is up to the individual child. The coaches can not go to each school and lead them around to their classes nor can they make them study. A coach is a mentor he can encourage and support but the hard work must be done by the the student/athlete. You cannot blame the coach if the student drops out.

I was interested too,so I asked some questions. There have been 14 female 1000 point scorers. One is still in college, another is going next year.So of the 12 that would have used their eligibility up,10 have graduated.that's kinda amazing.of those 10 many have gone on to graduate degrees.Several are working in the school district. There are 8 males who have scored 1000 points.3 have graduated college.22 1000 point scorers altogether. The balls are in the trophy case outside the gym.in you relly care or are interested you should check them out. That's what I did after I read your post.I asked some questions and got some answers.I was happy to see so many were successful.
