  1. You made a mistake? You know probably better than anyone how to read those reports. You scrutinized Santos' report and when you couldn't find anything incriminating, you did what you always do. You purposely misled the readers on this site. You assumed I meant the first fundraiser? Who are you kidding? I described it as an out-of-town pricey ticket affair. How could you be confused, Jimbo? And what about those in attendance? Who contributed and how much? No Hudson County Dems? Really! You lied, big time! You didn't "raise" the money. You were TOLD when and where to show-up and you were handed a number of very large checks. You are not the noble, independent, altruistic, regular guy you try to portray. I offered the "annual assessment" scenario as a possible rational explanation for the alleged contribution, because no one could possibly believe that HCDO (one of the wealthiest Democratic organizations around) would sell a ballot spot to someone you claim they don't even respect, for a measly $1500.00. That just defies all logic. Santos and his team got the line because they win and you don't!
  2. Three days have passed, and still no comment?
  3. Did everyone get a chance to examine this official campaign information? Wow, Mangin spent almost two and a half times as Santos spent and he still lost! Even at $500.00 a throw (obviously not geared to attract the average Dem), that's a lot of tickets. (And Mangin has the nerve to call someone else a "sellout".) I guess the folks who bought them thought they were going to get some return on their investment. Must have been disappointing for them, huh? What I don't understand is why Mr. Mangin lied about where he got his funds and how much he spent; especially when it is so easy to check it out. I'm sure there must be some explanation. Right, Jim?
  4. Jimbo, Your reply to this post just kind of skipped over the issue of your out-of-town, pricey ticket, fundraiser held in the offices of a very prestigious law firm which has very close connections to North Bergen. I'm sure that it was an oversight. Care to address it now? (You might want to keep in mind that I have a very close connection to one of your disenchanted ex-running mates.)
  5. Thank you for "feelin'" me! Love you, too!
  6. Yeah, I'm right and nah, I'm not Al Santos!
  7. Newcomer to Hudson politics? If you only knew! I worked on the Santos campaign. I know how much money was spent and you are not telling the truth! As to the financing of your campaign: How much were the tickets to your "fundraiser/soiree" in **** ******** law office? How many blue collar Dems were able to attend? And how is ******* connected to Nick Sacco and the other Hudson County Dems? Just because the check wasn't directly from the HCDO coffers, doesn't mean they didn't finance you. (I was born at night, but not last night.) You couldn't raise $34,000.00 on your own if your life depended on it. Don't you get it yet? The campaign wasn't about getting you elected, it was about preventing Santos from getting elected. But it didn't work, did it? By the end of the campaign, even your own running mates weren't happy with you. You just can't stand the idea that Hudson County used you to take its shot and you lost; but, unlike you, they admitted it, made nice, and everyone else is moving on. I knew you wouldn't mind, so I sent a copy of your response to Bernie Kenny. He is not happy. Wouldn't be surprised if you heard from him soon. KOTW Note: The above post was edited for content.
  8. Did you ever think that the check, if there was one, was the regular annual assessment that each Municipal Democratic Party chips in to the County Democratic Party? I would assume that each town has to pay its share of the joint signs and joint literature (that includes local, county and state candidates). Kearny Republicans would be doing exactly the same, if they were still active.
  9. SANTOS & CO.----THEY'RE SMART, THEY'RE HONEST, THEY'RE UNOPPOSED! FOUR MORE YEARS.
  10. Jimbo, Tell the truth. Hudson County decided BEFORE April 29, 2004 to give the line to the Santos candidate; and not because Santos sent any check but because they knew she would win. Do you really believe that Hudson County would trade a "winning" candidate's slot for a mere $1500.00? And why couldn't you win off the line? Santos did. Remember, the County gave you the line in your ill-fated 2002 full slate run against a Santos team that included two virtual unknowns---a team that was relegated to line E----and they still beat you and your heavily County backed, heavily County financed team. You'd rather lose than sell out? Please, I can only imagine the butt-kissing and pandering that went on during that campaign. The favors done for you in that fight didn't come without conditions. Hey, the County took its shot. You didn't produce, so you became "Jim Who?" Face it. Santos and the council candidates he supports are winners. Not one loss yet and now they're going for four! Welcome back.
  11. So you didn't consider Frank E. Rodgers a powerful mayor? Oh, my! (Titter, titter!)
  12. Boy, you guys must really be running out of ammunition, huh?
  13. Yeah, isn't it great? Two of my favorite Dems have kissed and made up. This can only be good for the party! Perhaps you sound a bit cynical because you have fallen from grace because of this turn of events......huh?
  14. You obviously are not a part of the inner circle. Not only are County officials tripping over themselves to make him happy, but the scuttlebutt is that he has been receiving phone calls from some very high level State folks, too! Who's been calling Jim Mangin?
  15. Hmmmm......come to think of it, there was a report of a slightly portly red-faced gentleman in the vicinity of Alden Leeds muttering something about a "spill in aisle three."
  16. It was in the newspapers and was announced at two (possibly three) council meetings. You were expecting a personal engraved invitation, maybe? The meeting was attended in about the same manner as the meeting pertaining to the housing of sexual predators. You're all talk except when it counts.
  17. And so you think voting for a Republican governor will curry enough attention from a totally Democratic county government so that they remove their new "favorite son", Al Santos? There must be some logic in there somewhere, but I'll be damned if I can find it!! That theory is really messed up. You vote Republican, and Hudson County will avoid you like the plague, my friend. Give it up! We've got Santos & Co. for FOUR MORE YEARS.
  18. Are you not hearing, seeing, processing this information? Try to compute this. A procedure was in place; it was executed meticulously; the incident went off without a hitch---no serious injuries, no property damage. The Santos Administration has worked municipal law to the limits; has met with chemical industry leaders; and most importantly has lobbied our legislators to enact the new regulatory laws as soon as possible. So what are you so pissed about? What, they didn't run it by you first? Who's "hiding"? the Mayor and Council have been discussing this openly for some time now. I'll repeat my earlier question: if you are so concerned about this subject, why didn't you come to the highly publicized council meeting at which Corzine's representative answered questions about it?
  19. Are you schizophrenic, or what? You post an innuendo of epic proportion inferring catastrophe, incident mishandling and secrecy and then run a news article which disproves your whole theory. Everyone from the local fire and police emergency personnel to County and State agencies praised the response and overall performance of the responders. Are you saying that our emergency management teams didn't do their job? If Mr. Goodman wanted to check on wind direction, he should have called the Weather Bureau, not a police department that was in emergency mode. Was the officer supposed to stop what he was doing to weigh Mr. Goodman's decision for him? Grow up!
  20. Wait, let me digest this. It's Santos' fault that the hospital isn't functioning? That may come as a surprise to the private entity that runs the Clara Maase Network and the State of New Jersey which oversees its operations (no pun intended). And I suppose that the chemical companies were brought in by this administration; and that the State and Federal governments summarily turned over their authority to Al Santos. Don't think so! What the Santos administration has done is to be in constant communication with Senator Corzine, one of the authors of the pending regulatory legislation. Why is it that none of you critics took the time to go to the council meeting that was attended by Corzine's representative who addressed this very subject? You had a golden opportunity to ask all the questions you wanted. Hell no. Then you'd actually have to deal with the facts. I suggest that you check the percentages of property tax, water rate and sewer charge increases in recent years in Harrison, North Arlington and Belleville (to name just a few) before you malign Kearny. Rising taxes are a fact of life for New Jersey municipalities. Let's face it---if you guys could get a better deal somewhere else, you'd be gone. Bert, please, stop this unprofessional, grammatically challenged, verbal carnage. You're beginning to remind me of Professor Irwin Corey, the King of the Malaprop; and frankly, you're giving educators a bad name!
  21. Don't you have anything better to do than to read all my posts?
  22. VOTE FOR MARY TORRES. SHE'S "BULLISH" ON EDUCATION. (21 Years of dedicated service to Kearny's children)
  23. Mary, Mary don't you fret. They haven't been able to beat you yet. Your 21 years have made us smarter and stronger, So I think we'll keep you a whole lot longer! IN APRIL 2006 VOTE FOR MARY TORRES. SHE'S BULLISH ON EDUCATION!
