Now apologists are whining about the ACLU

It's amazing just how low Mr. P.'s apologists are willing to go. First they try and smear Matthew, then Paul, then anyone who supports him on this forum, and now the ACLU. Have you people no shame?

Since you guys are obviously out of relevant and/or non-fallacious arguments, or else you wouldn't be resorting to nonsense like ad hominem, why don't you have some dignity and admit it? This last flurry of anti-ACLU posts has been truly shameful.

All you do is perpetuate the image of Christians as being intolerant bigots who will stop at nothing to get their way, including outright lying.

Remember: the ACLU defended Fred Phelps's right to 'protest' and carry "God Hates Fags" and "Thank God for 9/11" signs at the funerals of soldiers who died in the Iraq War.

Not all Christians are critical of the ACLU, and not all critics of the ACLU are Christians. So, again, please be careful with the generalizations.

I think a lot of people view the ACLU as the Constitution's meter maid. The job has to get done, but a lot of people think that you have to be a jerk to write parking tickets (especially when you're the one getting the parking ticket). People don't want to be the jerk that writes the tickets - and they view the people who write parking tickts as jerks. BUT, it doesn't mean that the job isn't critical.

Also, considering that the ACLU has limited resources, and cannot provide assistance in all matters, it is just curious to see some of the instances in which they felt assistance was warranted. At some point, someone in the ACLU is making a judgment call - and that judgment call is made by someone with their own set of biases and beliefs. The question is - which causes were deemed less important to the protection of our civil liberties than representing NAMBLA? We'll never know, of course, but such information would certainly be of probative value to me.
