How about a National politics page or section it is becoming tedious visiting Kearnys section when most of the posts have nothing to do with Kearny.

One of the tenets of Socialism is control of the media, if you don't like what's being said, shut it down. You sound like Comrade zerO, he doesn't like FOX so if he had his way FOX would be gone.
Listen Loony, if you don't like a certain thread you have a choice, don't read it.

I've asked for this before. Your response makes little sense. When I click on the Kearny I expect to find threads about Kearny. When I click on Harrison I expect to find threads about Harrison. If I'm in the Kearny section and I click on a topic about the mayor and property taxes I don't expect to find a discussion about peanut butter as the topic heading had nothing to do with peanut butter.

There should be a seperate header titled "United States" or "National Politics" right next to Kearny, Harrison, North Arlington and East Newark.

More appropriately would be a thread just called " the 2smart4u Show" Maybe he can get some of Beck's sponsors. They are both but mere cartoons.

Like 2smart said, don't read it. There are many people that like the political discussions.

This is the kind of impertinent response we've all come to expect from this moron. There's nothing wrong with separate categories, any more than there is anything wrong with separate topics.

Stupid, you open a new topic every day. What's your problem?

Thats great you enjoy this type of banter and nobody is saying you shouldn't. What we are saying is move your discussions to an appropriate section. If you were discussing Kearny politics that would be fine, but the national political conversations dont belong in the KEARNY thats right KEARNY forum.

I suggested something about this months ago and nothing happened. Was told to not read his subjects. Fine, but this 2smart4u person started 13 of the 30 topics on the front of the Kearny section (as of the time this is being written). None of these topics have anything to do with Kearny. How is that not spamming? This person would have been booted off of any other forum by now.

I don't care about his politics. He can say whatever he wants, he has the right to, but this simply isn't the place to do it.

I'm fine with them, but they have a proper place and its not under the Kearny section. A new one should be created.

I often find myself clicking on them like "Just heard..." thinking it's about something happening in Kearny. Then as I read it has nothing to do with Kearny. Most of the topic names are written in such a way that I click on them because they could be about Kearny and they end up being some random bantor about National Politics. Which I'm fine with but doesn't have an appropriate home in a forum section dedicated to issues in Kearny.

A new section must be created!!!! For the love of God KOTW please act!!

KOTW has for years maintained only four main topics, Kearny, Harrison, East Newark and North Arlington. There is also a Support topic for those interested in supporting KOTW.

KOTW's policy is to attempt not to interfere with topics or posts. On occasion we will consolidate topics but that is the exception rather than the rule. The members and guests have throughout the years self monitored the discussion board. When someone gets out of hand, the other participants let them know and the activity usually stops or is curtailed. The free expression of ideas even those that are annoying at times has sustained KOTW throughout the years.

KOTW does not intend on establishing a separate section for national politics. If we started with a separate section for national politics, we would then have to establish separate sections on a variety of topics. The sections that have sustained us throughout the years are the sections that we intend to stay with into the future.

I do not believe KOTW's arguments are well-considered. Segregating main topic headings does not amount to interference, so that justification is no answer to the pleas from many. And in point of fact, the main abuser here, who posts as "2smart4u" but is anything but that, appears to have absolutely no sense of shame at all and is not moved by all manner of requests, responses and even pleas to change his behavior.

Whether and to what extent the current format has "sustained" KOTW is a matter about which reasonable people could well disagree. Over extended periods of time, very little is happening here. Quite often, the "discussions" are little more than verbal mud-fights. There's really no telling how many people are posting because everyone is anonymous, which is odd considering that the intent is to have a local forum for discussion of Kearny issues. Would the forum have more participants if the flood of non-Kearny topics was curtailed or put into an appropriate section? Maybe not but perhaps the forum would have a bit more credibility, and would be move inviting to those Kearny residents - apparently few in number - who come here to see what is going on around town.

If KOTW's main intent is to serve the community, the proposed solution is a no-brainer. Local residents should be able to go into the Kearny section and see the most recent topics. They can't do that now because so many other topics are crowding them out and pushing them off the page.

The proposed change would not require multiple new main topics, as KOTW has suggested. Have one main topic for all non-Kearny issues. That would successfully address the complaint that a Kearny discussion forum has been invaded and taken over by other topics. People who wish to use KOTW to discuss national politics, religion, etc., would have no ground for complaint, since this is after all a local forum; and those who wish for it to be a local forum would be able to go into the Kearny section without having it cluttered. So instead of four main topics, there would be five. It's an excellent suggestion, implementation of which would better serve people who come here for local issues, without leading to an excessive number of main topics.

Well it is with a sad and heavy heart that with the webmasters feelings on this topic I will exercise my only option, boycott Kearny On The Web. I have enjoyed the many KEARNY discussions over the years. I know I am only one person and do not post alot so my prescence will not be missed. With that said farewell and goodbye!!!

Just because a national politics section is created does not prevent the imbecile from posting those threads in the Kearny section because he does not believe they will be read in the new section. And that would just create a lot of work for the moderator to move them to the proper section each and every time.

Shouldn't be a problem because KOTW moderates every post before it goes up. There's only one other section to send it to.
