So, the genius Kentucky Republicans have nominated Rand Paul for Senate. One day later, the nutcake repeated a position he has taken publicly since 2002, that racists should have the right to refuse service to people based on race, in violation of current federal law.

The Civil Rights Act of 1964 ended the shameful practice of "we don't serve coloreds." Rand Paul wants to make that practice legal again and return to legally approved racial discrimination. He is out of step with the mainstream.

The Republicans are going to lose this Senate seat because they nominated a radical who isn't ready for prime time, even by Kentucky standards. Chalk one up for the Democrats, Mr. Giuliani.
