looks like the borough has finally hit rock bottom. word is the chief is to be bought out and the rest of the department is to be merged with harrison, maybe the sgt who left last month knew something. as far as the fire department the doors will be closed for good.

Whats going on in East Newark, first you have a cop of seven years leave to Essex County Prosecutor's Office, then a few months later one of the newer cops with only a year on the job leaves to Essex County, and now the last to leave had 10years and was a Sgt and leaves to Warren County Prosecutor's Office somebody knows something and no one is talking, who's next to go? And now the poor new Sgt well lose his rank when the go to Harrison Police.

Kenny is retiring, the patrolmen will be rolled into HPD as long as they get a passing grade on the Civil Service Exam, which a Chimp could pass.. As for the FD, who knows, it'll probably be kept on as a volunteer adjunct to HFD, and disbanded if the Membership goes to attrition.

This is crazy why doesn’t East Newark merger with either Harrison or Kearny, It’s only 4 block town. This town is going down every year. How can they manage to survive?

It's going to be a good thing for the East Newark Cops when they merged, good luck guys

I agree, East Newark is a small town and the Board of Ed. already sending there high school kids to Harrison High plus Harrison Zip Code: 07029 is being used so why can't they just merge already? Plus, East Newark is using Kearny Board of Health for all they health needs lolz. That's a shame.

I REALLY HOPE THIS HAPPENS, EAST NEWARK POLICE ARE ONLY CONCERNED ABOUT THEIR TICKET QUOTAS FOR THE MONTH. THESE COPS ARE KNOWN ALL OVER NJ FOR BEING A**HOLES TO DRIVERS AND GIVING UP TO 7 TICKETS AT A TIME!!! IM NOT SAYING THAT THESE COPS ARE BAD COPS, BUT THESE COPS REALLY NEED MORE POLICE WORK TO KEEP THEM HAPPY SO THEY DONT TICKET EVERYONE IN SIGHT! I SAY MERGE EAST NEWARK WITH ANY SURROUNDING TOWN ALREADY!!!!!!!

The Police Dept is going to hire 3-4 guys? Who's getting the job?
