Well the Board voted to give Jim Doran's Brother a whopping payment of $130,000. This to a **** ********* ***** who was hired by the Board without State clearance. Just check the Observer articles and you can read the details. So in the end, Doran's Brother was hired without clearance, and the sitting Board President used his position to pressure the Board to get him his job back and pay this obscene amount. I guess this a Board that is sympothetic to those with ***** problems and **********. And remember, he's working amongst your children.

I think the Board knew that if they didn't hire the guy back they would b liable for a big lawsuit and put the district in a bad spot. Since the guy was fired illegally by a non qualified superintendent I think it was the right thing to do Hi **** *********

Really?? Where did you go to law school, Disneyland? They paid this guy over $40,000 in lost overtime. Do you really think he would have won this in a lawsuit? It's corruption by Board President Doran, plain and simple.

He should have gotten more! He is doing them a favor if he agreed not to sue them! Let this be a lesson to elected officials. Think twice before you use your power to satisfy your own personal vendetta and feed your over sized ego at the tax payers expense! Not to mention the abuse of power by local authorities! Shame on all of you!

This is one of the reasons why the Board has to find ways to cut costs and go after changing Health Plans. To pay senseless settlement payments to an employee related to the Board President who clearly shouldn't have been hired in the first place. This Board of Education has set a very dangerous precedent which could open the flood gates to future litigation if there are other employees that fall into the same situation. The board will have no leg to stand on if in fact this comes up again with other employees. And what would happen if someone with a criminal record applies for employment in the system will he or she be offered the same opportunities as the Board President's Relative??? This settlement has opened many doors and there is no defense in the action that this board has taken and has strapped future Boards of Education from providing our Schools with the best Candidates for employment that will offer a safe and quality work place for our Students and Teachers? This Board now feels that no one can beat them in the elections and the arrogance that displayed in this decision shows that they have no fear of anyone going against them in future elections. This is clearly something MAYOR SANTOS should have weighed in on this decision but because he is close to these members he will remain silent. The news media should be aware of what this Board did and should explain themselves to the Citizens of Kearny. Its only fair its their TAXES that payed this settlement!!!!!!!!!!

Guest Spinning the spin

On the contrary. This settlement has CLOSED the door on an ugly, vindictive plan to have someone fired for personal and political reasons, using the excuse that the person in question was some kind of dangerous criminal. Hah! It was the result of dangerous and twisted elected officials that ultimately forced the unnecessary spending of public monies after they attempted to destroy someone's livelihood and reputation. Grown men acting like spoiled children. Spin it all you want. Try to make anyone believe that because of this incident the BOE won't be able to hire good candidates. Setting a precedent? I don't think so. Unless, of course, another majority of clowns get control and then show their true selves to be small minded, arrogant, angry bullies.
